King still alive: Loyd surprised furious
I mean . . . Y'all didn't double check he survived or not.
Also what is this "I have this happiness because you did that harsh experiment on us" Stockholm mentality being pushed here????? It's so off putting and not even need to be said to begin with. Remember kids were abducted, lost their lives because of this bozo.
People are mad not because Loyd didn't do it, but because the author didn't. There are creative ways to write this route, first came to my head is that mana poisoning which this bozo put himself into that situation, second is coup d'etat which could happen because this bozo almost destroyed the kingdom, his serious sins brought up to light.
Yes there will be follow up events, there could be war, political unrest, riots, looting, you name it. But I believe it would make a more interesting story as we get more into this series' world, conflicts which cannot be easily resolved with fist.
A deep sigh for this arc's very cheap conclusion.
Welp it is what it is I guess, thank you as always for the sl! LH translation!
Sure, it could be interesting, but it would also mark a significant tonal shift in what is ultimately meant to be a relatively light-hearted, somewhat fluffy comedy manga about a group of loners and outcasts coming together to make a wonderful family of choice/found family.
Yes, we have some darker stuff with the human experimentation and torture (and
wow doesn't that feel weird to just state like that), but that's mostly confined to backstory and to give an excuse to grow the found family.
Unless they do some
massive time skips, the war, upheaval, and general unrest that would stem from killing the king of one of the most powerful countries in the world (who, to the best of my recollection, doesn't have an heir?), or even just ousting him from power, would wind up being long, drawn-out sources of drama and seriousness that would ultimately make this a very different manga.
On top of that, it'd draw the main cast further into dealing with the goings-on of the kingdom, and their characters shine far more when they're off in their own world doing their own collective thing. Even when dealing with the king, it never really felt like they were getting caught up in the politics or other affairs of the country. It was only ever really just the king himself, and he was basically just another problem to deal with. Hell, at the climax of the fight, the kingdom was quite literally just a backdrop; a set piece used to highlight how careless the king was being and how much he'd lost sight of things.
Overall, I think it's for the best that the author chose not to delve into that chaos. Instead, the manga is staying in its lane, and delivering what it's supposed to: Cute Sophia moments.
