Still holding out hope that he also just faked his death, because as impactful as it was, tricking even Beliel into thinking you're dead would also be fucking badass.

Now that I look over the scene again, it does kind of leads to that naturally. Not really showing the stab, Belial only looking at his heat signature (?) for a bit. But the butterfly thing is a big question on that, how did he trick something like that? How does it even work?

Exactly. It also occurred me that it's the perfect way to bait the enemy into bringing Kid's spells. If his bookeeper is dead there's no problem with using his spells.

Maybe I'm high on copium but it would be a really good strategy to reunite with Kid.

One thing I noticed during the whole new spell thing, both Gash's and Kiyomaro's eyes were "burning" for lack of a better word then they returned to normal when they finally relaxed. Is this the birth of something new? Got some Answer Talker vibes there but perhaps a different thing regarding sheer iron will/determination?

Maybe. It would be entirely in character for him to reveal He had some digital backup of his brain in a copy-kiddo or something to scream "JUST KIDDING!!" About 4 pages into the next chapter

Or to reveal that he stabbed himself in a precise location that makes him only nearly dead 🤔
