But I got a refresher on Momon's spells, and besides his talents for detection, he is really specialized in trickster-style magic, exactly the type of mamodo that could survive to keep helping people.

Those weird looking guys are part of the Majestic 12, the superhero group led by Dr. Riddles (mostly used for gags). That's why they have funny looking costumes.

Laughed my fucking ass off at Dr. Riddles cheating death. Glad that he's just benched for now, because ain't no way Raiku was gonna deny us the catharsis of a Kid reunion. Coral Q was a crazy fucking deep cut to whip out for this arc, but seeing Momon turn into a gorilla rabbit is incredible. And he's taking so much charge! Proud of that kid!

Throwing my hat in for the Fern guessing game, but maybe there's a chance she's Elly with a changed name? There's a vague resemblance to her as well as to Dufort, but that's all the guessing I could possibly manage at this time.

Firstly I know a lot of people wanted to believe. I do think the fact he did have to actually die or stop beating for a second shows commitment, and that it wasn't JUST a fake. I feel happy and sad that he isn't dead, but also feel this is a huge death flag ;-;

Not surprised that Momon is alive & well given that his ability to sense powerful enemies (& his cowardice) allows him to survive for as long as he has. He looks more like a monkey now & good to see that he grew up to play a big part on their survival in the Demon world. Dr. Riddles & Kido reunion is still on the table folks despite me coming to accept his death last chapter. Thanks for the translations.

I think his cowardice is gone, or rather was something he overcame during Faudo Arc. He even said he wants to become strong and smart like Kiyomaru, so I think him surviving would be more of using his ability and knowledge to help more than anyhting

I'm going to guess Fern is Dufort's daughter (possibly adopted).

1. She's probably the daughter of one of the previous book owners- I don't think she's Elly with a different name since that would just be unnecessarily confusing. Also, I think Elly should be older (assuming time runs the same in both worlds, 13 years have passed, so Elly should be a young adult, maybe around 19). Elly also wasn't as short-spoken and direct as Fern.
2. You know who was short-spoken and direct, to the point of being seen as incredibly rude? Dufort. It's not surprising if that rubbed off on his daughter, even moreso if she also has the answer-talker ability.
3. It makes sense for Kiyo and Dufort to be close, since their partners are brothers and Dufort helped train Kiyo in the answer-talker ability, so it follows that Kiyo would have met his daughter.
4. Dufort's backstory was about being abandoned and mistreated as a child, and the end of his story in the original series was about him rediscovering his humanity. It makes sense for this series to give him a daughter to show much he's changed.
