It would be interesting if Kudou "corrupts" Kokoro. The premise of volume 1 was ostensibly Naoi doing that to Kurumi, though it's worked out to be a much purer relationship than we might have expected.
I think Naoi is only delaying her conversation with Kurumi. She may not be sure how to explain her relationship with Kudou yet and it's going to be unpleasant for her when she does, getting into a past she'd rather not think about it. I don't think Naoi will be mad long term at Kurumi for wanting to know what's going on at the love hotel.
They could have a short term conflict since Kurumi hasn't committed to Naoi explicitly and is still in a relationship with Kokoro, which Naoi is avoiding complaining about. They still have a certain amount of trust for each other, so I think this will be resolved without issue. That will be the point they affirm their relationship with each other, so it could be a volume ender rather than an eminent event. Right now they still need to get annoyed enough with each other to have that short term conflict, as they're still trying to please each other.
That sums up Kokoro's main issue in a nutshell. And it's completely intentional by the author. That's why Kokoro keeps saying "I'm sorry" and then doing more things she knows on some level are wrong or will hurt others. She does the exact same thing at the end of the chapter. It's like she can't stop herself.
This is especially true when you consider her actions at the end of chapter 19 are the same actions she attempted in chapter 9. It's an invite for the exact same date to the zoo.
Rather than reflecting and changing her actions, she more or less responds by redoubling her efforts. She is putting quite a lot of effort into this, in fact, which is part of her problem.
It is a consistent flaw with Kokoro. Somehow we keep thinking Kokoro is about to change, then she finds a new way to take it to a new level. That's despite that we made the same observation in previous threads. It's somewhat comical at this point.
Not in this thread specifically, but seeing people saying "Kokoro is worse than Naoi!" and vice versa is one of the most frustrating things. Not many pieces of art are about who's worse and who's the best etc. The world and art is more complex than that.
Thanks for the tl, as always ^^
Agreed. This type of analysis is reductive and conflict promoting in discussions. Also though, Kokoro is worse than Naoi.
