This is something that does not really makes sense to me. This is a world where being gay is the norm, why would there be a term to divide the ppl interested in it? Why would there be a thing called “closeted fudanshi”, when gay is the norm and the majority of the romances are gay? It’s like having the term closeted straight for our world, or have a specific term for men and women interested in hetero stories. I don’t get it. Can someone tell me if I am wrong?

@Kriss10 Because the norm isnt being "gay", the norm is "BL".

BL story's 9/10 times have the Cliche of "The world will not accept us" while also half the side-charaters the main couple are friends whit also being couples, or how the entire school knows about them but they still hide their relationship.
So, basically, all BL characters live in this mentality that being gay will bring them trouble, despite everyone around them also being gay, same goes for the Fudanshi trope, as the trope itself is that them liking BL isnt normal despite the fact that they live right next to 20 gay couples (Sasaki to Miyano is a 10/10 example).

What's funny is that this chapter dealt whit 2 tropes, the Fundashi and the Author.

Yeah, that would make sense if the world was within our realm, but considering the amount of gay couples within this work’s world, i assumed it became the norm. I guess the author decided to keep somehow the notion of homophobia even if all the couples end up being gay, as you said true to the bl cliche, Thank you for the explanation tho

Np, Its not hard to find issues whit this worlds narrative, specially wen the author makes it seem like the world is actively working against the MCs wishes of being Streight despite the MC stating there are also plenty of Straight Couples.
But yea, it seems the intention of the author wasn't to make the world still be homophobic, its just that all BL couples think it is, oblivious to the fact that more then 50% if not more of the population is also gay, which is why the MC states plenty of times that his friends and even brother keep their relationships hidden, as their trope deems it necessary for the drama plot in those story's, that usually end whit them talking like normal people or having a meltdown in front of the whole school that either already knows or supports them from the get-go (staple of all-boys school BL trope).

The manga is interesting because it has some lore behind it, even if confusing, hell If we try to stretch it a bit, the MC is clearly oblivious that he is still actively walking the path of a BL character while trying to be a Mob, more precisely the "side-character" trope, even if he refuses to.
-All his acquaintances are Gay, including his Brother ("Whole Family being Gay" trope).
-He has had many people interested in him ("popular side-character" trope).
-He has triggered the "in "X" years" flag ("We made a promise" trope).
-He actively avoids guys despite not being homophobic (""homophobic but no" friend/classmate" trope).
-The fact he is a mob character. (I have seen a couple of BL mangas that don't reveal the name of the Mob characters till the end and even make a extra of them getting together for comedy sake because the readers take a small liking to them)

Our MC is literally that one character in BL mangas that doesn't get his story unless either the readers love him, all main couples get their story done, or the author wants him to have his own story.
Which fits perfectly in the universe lore, as the MC keeps avoiding his fate by creating more and more Main Couples, the Readers love the MC and just want to know his fate either way he goes (some routing for his successes, others routing for his demise, while others are set on him changing his mind on his own and ending whit the guy he set his first and only flag whit (Im on that side)), and the Author is literally the force that is pushing the MC into all the Flag situations, basically the BL god that controls that universe, its actually genius if this was the intention of the author, of it being like a battle between a BL writer and a Character of his world that refuses to abide by his wishes of giving him a story.

No, thank you, it’s completely fine for the context you provided. I am not familiar with Bl as I find it to be very heteronormative most of the time (we shall not indulge in covering this topic and tbh, I could be completely wrong). My comment regarding the homophobia, was more related to the fact that regardless what the gay couples within the works “think”, their world is still made up by mostly gay couples (as you said 50% if not more of the population) and that the author still decided to keep the fear of non acceptance for each individual couple. My point was more about how homophobia was subtly included in this work. I mean, again, I am not versed at all in the Bl genre but i thought it was just gay romance, in which the reason for hiding would be very much understandable, since I would assume that homosexuality is not the “norm”. Thus, again, I assumed that when in a world it is very much more common for gay couples to be a thing, homophobia would automatically not be. (I apologise if my point is not clear, I am currently writing an assignment ). Regarding your analysis of the MC: fucking brilliant. I did not even see how he was somehow fitting the mob trope with Bl cliche (that’s just me being ignorant in the genre). Personally, I see the author playing with the MC as someone who simply will deflect any flag in different ways. Not sure how this will end tbh but for now I am having way too much fun seeing how he avoids the flags lol. * I am probably sounding like an absolute moron right now, I apologise. My guesses are only based on assumptions, so feel free to correct me and educate me.
