I rmb VN never confirmed how MC survived the zombiefication. Well, just think of he's being the "protag" or "chosen one". it's 18+ VN so I don't think they got time to dive deep in lore that much.

VN did explain more about intelligent zombie. back when he's at school. he watched all recordings and see what happened in this chapter from "bratty kid" side. while this chapter, he see it from skull man PoV (aka leader of int zombie)

you can see that "MC in this dream" hold the weapon skull man use to chop off the person who try to escape via car and crashed into school gate(I can't rmb what it called, cleaver?) it's skullman trademark weapon.

and VN constantly hint us that MC "linked" with these int zombie somehow(most likely because he's considered int zombie but with different process. They got some humanity back via eating human while MC is eh... deus machina?) and he could noticed them when they're around and could feel and understand their emotion and vice versa. This fever dream was one of their "linked".

Btw, this is just my speculation on this dream part

but this fever dream was "Skull man's attempt to converted MC to their side via these "link" while he was in worst condition.
They're keeping track of MC since they met at school and The horde attack was most likely to gain more ally(let zombie eat more human and evolve) and also try to get MC to their side if possible or eliminate him.

MC almost lost himself in Skullman memories and become actual zombie(one of them) but 2nd best girl who become another intelligent zombie thanks to MC's "fluid" come and save him via the same "link"

Also, The skullman is actually set up as proper zombie leader too. the usual calculated, ruthless to enemy but kind to his group type of leader. He waited until the perfect moment to attack and try minimum their lose if given choice. It's just his rage to human was too strong but considered his backstory, it's given

nope its zombie sex lol. No what happened was MC living through the memories of that first intelligent guy he called skull head. And we already know that zombes get more intelligent the more human fless they eat. But what was also hinted was that him fucking that Zombie girl in the beginning and her drinking his Sperma also increased her self-awareness. So I guess eating "Human-Biomass" makes the Zombies stronger and more self-aware. So Giving them Blood could also work.

Yeah, that's an artifact of the kind of story compression going on here. Pages of text are being crunched down into a page or two with several panels and a few word balloons. Of course, this part is deliberately trying to be disorienting, because the main character is severely disoriented, but it's a problem across the entire work. If the manga just slowed the pace down a few notches, and retained more of the insight into people's thought processes and had more detailed depictions of what's going on, this would be a lot better. As it stands, I'd very much be remiss in recommending this over the game, especially since the game is already finished. Well, games, plural; there's three of them.

Its actually pretty deep (additionally since its based on a VN, but especially for a porn VN). Solid 8 with upside for me. I like the whole hivemind linking with the intelligent zombies.... if MC can gain the ability to direct the "drones" it'd be great. Gunna probably "find" the supposed trilogy of VNs for this I think.
