Brother i respect your opinion, but to me the facial expression she makes on the last panels isnt of jealousy or envy, that sort of emotion is accompanied by an angry/annoyed expression, here she clearly shows a sad/unconfortable expression, to me that's guilt/regret.
I agree. She can't even keep eye-contact with him.

No disrespect—I respect your point of view—but I see it differently. The last panel shows him being promoted to Editor-in-Chief, and she can’t even look at him or be happy for his success. She glances at him, then immediately looks away when he stares at her. If this were truly guilt, I might believe it—if the majority of the chapter didn’t show her acting out of jealousy.

She contacted his rival out of jealousy, cried to him about the main character’s success, and then slept with the rival after the main character received an award. Now, as he’s being promoted, she still can’t face him. You could argue it’s guilt or regret, but her actions throughout the chapter suggest otherwise.

She’s a despicable person.

That's totally fine. I'm pretty sure we all agree that based on her actions, she is definitely not a good person.

Because she's jealous of his success, not because of what she did.
I think she could be feeling more than one emotion there. Her reaction to making eye-contact with him is more than just that.

I agree that most of her actions happened out of jealousy/envy/frustration with his sucess, sure. But in the last panels in my opinion she felt guilty about it, doesn't excuse what she did, but i believe she felt some regret/guilt in the end. MC became fucked up in the head and she knows she's the reason for it.

Absolutely. She's a despicable person, and what she did to him was both foul and unforgivable.

Maybe. Unfortunately, I just find it hard to believe she would feel guilty now and not while she was having sex with his rival as he watched. A person that foul doesn't change for the better after something like that.

All right, then answer this: why would she feel guilty now but not while she was having sex with his rival as he watched? The two actions don’t make sense. Avoiding eye contact after doing something like that, especially when he’s in the middle of getting a promotion, only points to the root of the issue—jealousy.

Guilt usually cements itself after the fact. It's possible she could have felt guilt at that time but she clearly gave in for the immediate gratification of the moment.

Trust me, I see your point of view. However, I just don’t believe that’s the case. As you said, it was about immediate gratification. That means even if she felt guilty in that moment—while she was having sex with his rival as he watched—she still wanted him to feel hurt because she was hurting. That’s jealousy. So it’s hard to believe her actions in that moment, and how she carried herself throughout the chapter, would end with her feeling guilty if her goal was to make him suffer. It just doesn’t make sense.

I feel like we'll be stuck in a never ending discussion, but here's my opinion, she didnt feel guilty while fucking the other guy while the MC watched because she wanted to hurt the MC for all the frustration/envy she felt with his success, the sex worked as a way to vent her frustrations and hurt the MC.

In the last panels a few years have gone by and the MC is giving a speech after yet another promotion and looked at her like he was asking her if he was good enough now, she realized that even after everything she had done to him he was still working hard to become worthy of her, MC's entire reason of existing was to work hard to become worthy of her, she felt guilty and looked away because she realized that she had essentialy broken him and made him become stuck in a never ending loop of improvement that will never be enough in his mind, because his mind is destroyed.
This is my take on it, i truly believe she felt regret/guilt in the end, and yes, she's a horrible person, that much we can all agree.

Being emotionally compromised causes people to make decisions that don't make sense.

I'm in no way defending her but her feelings of insecurity, jealousy, and inferiority overtook her feelings of love for the MC which made her emotionally connect with the other guy.

Now she has to live with the fact that she emotionally destroyed the one she actually loved and has to live with it.

Due to the time skip we don't exactly know how that has been for her but we see it in the MC - he is broken and aiming for a goal that doesn't exist.

The last page you can infer what she is feeling and it would be safe to say she is not just feeling one specific emotion when they made eye contact.

Look, I’m sorry we’re stuck in this never-ending cycle of disagreement. That wasn’t my intention at all. It’s just... I see your point of view, but I can’t agree with it. It’s hard to believe she was thinking about his well-being when, this entire time, she was only thinking about herself. Even the fact that you pointed out the last panel takes place years later—that means she let him sit with the pain of her actions for years. Sit with the fact that she had sex with his rival while he watched. For years. Come on. And now, all of a sudden, she’s thinking about him? Now she’s realizing she broke him? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t agree with that. But hey, if that’s what you believe, I’ll leave it at this: we agree to disagree. There’s no way she felt guilty for him. It just doesn’t add up.

It's fine you dont have to apologize, if we all had the same opinion the world would be boring, like you said let's agree to disagree.

Cheers man

Like I told the other guy, I’m sorry if this has turned into a never-ending cycle of disagreement—that wasn’t my intention. So, I’ll leave it at this: you’re basing her reaction on his emotions, saying she feels guilty because you believe she thinks she broke him. In my opinion, that’s an improper way of looking at things.

While he was elevating himself, she never thought about him in that light. When she had sex with the other guy, she wasn’t thinking about his feelings in that light either. The panel takes place years later, and what’s happening now? He’s getting promoted. And she’s ashamed to look at him. She sees him standing there, accepting the promotion, but in that moment, there’s no way she’s thinking, Oh, I broke him. That’s illogical. Women don’t think like that.

Is there a chance she feels guilty? Sure, but I doubt it. Her actions throughout the chapter have been driven by jealousy, and I believe this moment is no different. He’s now the head chief—he’s surpassed her. She was his senpai, but now he’s the top dog. And the whole time, she’s been jealous of his success. Why would this moment be any different?

Basing her actions on how he feels just doesn’t seem right. It’s an improbable way of looking at things because she couldn’t possibly know how he feels. Could she think, I must’ve done something to him? Sure. But clearly, she’s not.

Let’s just agree to disagree. I’m sorry for dragging this out as long as I did—that wasn’t my intention. I respect your opinions, yours and the others’, but that’s just where I stand.
