Rereading the chapter I think I'll have to retract my statement, as I can't fault the translation really but rather the original panelling - it's simply too cluttered to follow neatly. I'll chalk it up to my own inattentiveness.

yea, I often find the story hard to follow, but it's so compelling thhat I just have to keep reading.

So did he just... explode? why tho, did he ran out of juice? or was getting his sword grabbed that big of a mental blow that he just crumbled by accepting defeat?

Well, he was wounded several times and got his arm torn off in the fight with Yatsuha (also got hit by Ryuuma Jr.), maybe that was a lot more than he could handle as a corpse regenerating? Dunno. But he at least got to pass on the sword/katana to someone who he approved of, so yay? 🤔
