Diode isn't a real person who we've only seen these actions of hers. She's a character in a narrative where the narrative itself is communicating stuff about her. By placing her in a role that is usually romantic, by showing the two of them having a dynamic that benefits them both, by presenting the meeting with her as important and good, it's communicating that she obviously had a good, or at least sympathetic, reason to do that. So it's not unreasonable to like her.

I'm not saying it's wrong to like her, I just personally don't find anything about her worth liking. You said lots of words but I still don't quite see why she's likeable lol. So far, all I see is an impulsive, pushy person who does things that only benefit her.

Also, just because a character is presented as "good and likeable" doesn't mean that everyone will see it that way.

I would guess that the reason she dropped the “fish?” was because the ship couldnt carry the weight, wasnt their catch like 10 tons more than whats normally catched?

I sure hope that the explanation for her actions would be reasonable like this. Though it's kinda implied in this chapter that she just want to fly, so maybe she didn't care about catching fish at all.

Diode is pretty invested in securing her partnership with Terra. It's only reasonable to assume that her reason for dumping their catch would be something she could convince Terra to accept, otherwise she'd risk causing Terra to reject a partnership altogether.

Just because she has self focused motivations doesn't mean she's irrational.

As for likeability, I find "focused, sharp, self interested but not in a malicious way" to actually be a pretty likeable set of character traits in a yuri protag, lol. (cf. Sorawo Kamikoshi). Obviously, your mileage may vary.

It's just 3 chapters in and two of them were flashbacks.
Next chapter will probably be the final flashback before we get to the present.

by all indications, the stigma on gay people is something they developed after coming to the fat beach ball and it seems as it was done in part because men in the colony wanted to take power from strong women who were early leaders of the colony.
