And with this chapter part, we're a little less than halfway through Episode 5 of the anime. Seems on-track for Ch.15 to end up being the latter third of the episode.
I felt like a fair bit of what the manga adapted got into the anime, though it sure does feel a lot more dynamic in the manga than the anime, which feels weird since the anime has animation.... but it manages to have most of the same dialog and moments, and I like some of the direction choices for narrative flow, like how the conversation that's taking place entirely outside his door in the anime actually traveled inside as Shihoko spotted Mahiru in the anime- I thought that was a more natural way to progress the scene than everyone literally staying outside the door while this big conversation took place. But then there's the mention of the kimono in the luggage where Shihoko just hefts the thing up in a big display here, but in the anime it's sitting over by the kitchen counter area and we just cut to a side-long glance at it rather boringly.
Every so often the anime does something moderately interesting or sensible, but then waters down the content in other ways, and it's kind of disheartening to realize it's basically got the same moments and conversations, more or less, as the manga, but it does them in a far less interesting way. Still not terrible, since it got me to want to look into the manga to see what was adapted so far, but still, disappointing... but it still did well enough for a second season, so there's that.
