yeah I had thought I was misunderstanding something there when I first read it, but I landed on believing she was not limiting it to just the indigo league and the fact that she is oldSorry, triple digits? Has Agatha won over 100 pokemon leagues in this story? I guess that's possible if you're participating in multiple regions each year, but jeez.
yeah, chapter 16 and 17 actually released at the same comiket (104), but he did the digital releases separate. So I personally think of 16/17 to be 1 chapter if that helps at all.The art is gorgeous as ever, but the story is starting to be a building block for upcoming chapters it feels like.
The author can't exactly skip these matches, but he can't half ass them eitherDidn't really like these 2 chapters. Festival to me has been less about the battles but more about what the battles represented. To quote rlm, the "internalization of the characters", whether that be the trainers, or the Pokemon themselves.
And while this battle was flashy and we got mega evolution, it felt to me all style no substance.
It's very clear to me that seijun had the first part of the story planned out, probably up to Karen vs blue, and some parts of episode 0 with pikachu. And he probably had red vs blue as the final battle all mapped out too. But everything between that, and now, is probably new territory for the author which is why each chapter takes so long. Just hope the battles between now and the climax isn't just all flash and style that don't mean anything
Hmm, I half-agree.The author can't exactly skip these matches, but he can't half ass them either
Definitively. Like, this work is over a decade old. XY was not even out when it was drawn. It's very clear to me that seijun had the first part of the story planned out
Red v misty was definitely nessesary. Skyla battle was about green and eevees recovery after raticates death. It was less nessesary but we see how they've grown and their own personalities.Lorelei looks really nice here.

He's gone and skimmed over a bunch of a matches and skipped many of them too but those of unimportant people who're not the focus of the story. At the very least I think the author could have concentrated things. Like, this Steven match could have been against Bruno instead of random NPC Trainer. Would be a bigger show if he beat an E4 like this, and would hammer in the point that he's Champion level harder too.
As nice as the Skyla match was, was it really necessary? Or even Red vs Misty? You could argue that shaving down things to just the main three, Steven and the E4 would have worked just as well.
That's why tournaments are always pacing killers. The set-up is too big, too many matches, and too many people. It always ends up taking forever.
