Personally, I find drinking infinitely worse and infinitely more normalized. Smoking where I'm from is not frowned upon or anything, but not a lot of people do it (especially young adults) and it's not ever really a problem.
Drinking, on the other hand, is so entrenched into our culture that I'm one of the very few people my age who don't drink, and people like to get excessive with it. I lost family members to the drink, have some who are going through rehab, and constantly see cases of drunk drivers killing innocents.
Excessive smoking only hurts yourself, excessive drinking hurts everyone around you. I know which one I'd rather tolerate. And in moderation, I don't really care much either way as long as people don't smoke directly into my face.
