Either that or it's just a shitty boilerplate website they're all using. That seems more likely to me, since it's pretty unlikely any of these people have the ability to actually make a site like this - and if they do I sure as fuck wouldn't trust it.

This is a misinterpretation of the rules:

Aggregator watermarks are not allowed. Watermarks originating from the scan group are completely acceptable.

Please do not report these chapters. They will not be accepted and you are liable to have your reporting rights revoked.
I understand you may be unhappy with this group, but this is not the way to go about it.

I have made a suggestion about what to do with groups like these in the suggestion board. Basically give them a warning like for porn.

I actually had the whole chapter translated, but we had to delay the chapter 'cause we're working on a new series that we're going to release soon enough. Looks like it was a bad idea on my part, though haha. Still, it is what it is. MTL cash grab scans targeting out series is par for the course for us at this point lmao. Heck, I even had another scummy cash grab scans come to our server and ask me in my dms on Discord if we could sell my TLs of the next chapters of this series for a pittance so they could put them behind paywall on their website (they got banned indefinitely here, btw) lmao. I banned them and kicked their sorry asses out of the server, obviously.

Just try to release before them and it's fine. They're going to have the newest chapters behind paywalls regardless. The bad thing if they release before you, is that the aggregators only scrape the first release, so their chapter 3.1 now will be the only one scraped to most of the aggregators most likely. Which is sad but it is what it is.

There is a rule against posting on MD to advertise chapters on your own site, if you don't intend to post them on MD eventually.
Basically, iirc, advance chapters behind a paywalls are ok, but not if they stay behind that paywall.

1.8 Permanently withholding some of your scanlations to a series for the purpose of attracting users to your site is not allowed.

But no timeline is given in the rules, so they could argue they will post them here "eventually(tm)" and then never do so, I guess.

That said, maybe the mods will go by the spirit and decide that a chapter has to be posted 1 month (arbitrary but sensible number I took out of thing air) after it is posted on their own website?
In that case... someone said they have a history with other mangas, so I guess you could check those to see if they do post all chapters they got for them, eventually.


ps: I suppose you could also argue paywalls are covered by 1.5. No idea if you would succeed... but you could.

Honestly why would you think this? Groups have been putting water marks on their releases for almost 20 years because of scummy behavior from aggregators and tazmo. They don't do it as much now these days as they used to, but you'd have to remove like all the scanlations from 2005 to 2015 or something from this site if water marks

They should be, especially for groups like this 🤷‍♀️ but maybe that report option should say "aggregator watermarks" instead of just watermarks? I'm sure your site stats show that less than 10% read the rules page so that might help cut down on unqualified reports like mine.

I think it's all the same group behind it, I've seen some of the same TL and editors on different credits pages for multiple groups. I think they pay some freelancers to do the work or something.

This is a known sniping MTL group, they translate just a few chapters to get ahead of the original group and then stop completely until the original group either catches up or quits, not to mention the watermarking and the site advertising, do not entertain this trash.

They've been doing this for many titles like Uchi ni Kaeru and Kyou Kara.

Yeah they just sniped almost every series that had been on the popular section of the homepage

My 2c for what it's worth, and I get that MangaDex does not own any of these titles in any capacity and doesn't have the right to dictate who/what is and isn't allowed, but I feel that the abundance of groups like Rithar is a very worrying and harmful development, and something really should/needs to be done about it.

Why doesn't MD have the right to dictate what is allowed or not? This isn't a government funded agency, or a company answering to a board of investors. They can, and should, block any group whose behaviour degrades the overall experience for their users and other more respectfull groups.
