Just in case it somehow isn't clear for anyone, the ending scene is showing an 11.5 year time skip. They didn't get hit by an earthquake at the tournament. They're all on the way to the Tohoku Grand Prix in September of 1999, then it's suddenly March of 2011.

Page 28: Kanou says "Where did that Sawatari girl go...?", with the "girl" making it sound like he barely knows her.

Page 30: Emi says "By the way, you Lou-chan came to Japan to take refuge from the satellite crash, right?"

yeah, those are deliberate. in the first the original is the same, kanou says this because he's upset about emi.
and the second one is like emi is speaking directly to lou but she says "by the way, lou-chan came to japan..."
maybe it would have been a better solution for her to say "by the way lou-chan, you came to japan".
anyway i wanted to conserve some of the flavour of the original.

Just a small correction, they weren't yet on the way to the tohoku GP, they were coming back from the beach and talking about going there next month, and next page we get emi (?) looking at the tv, 12 years into the future, during the 2011 earthquake.

The manga is running in a monthly magazine in japan. It will have 2 more chapters in the magazine then no more. Story finished forever.
The scanlation is based on the japanese run and it's many chapters behind. So to get to the end of the story, 17 more chapters are needed to be translated from japanese to english.

Hopefully it at least comes to an end and isn’t just a cliffhanger ending.

I'm pretty sure that the series will have a planned, decent ending. It didn't run for 7 year so the authors can butcher the ending at the last minute...
