I like how the author added that last part, just to let readers know they both stayed celibate for 12 years. This guy understands how readers will overthink everything, unless it's cleared up.
Tbh that's one of the bad aspects of romance manga. Any time there's a timeskip at the end we're somehow supposed to believe that none of the people they've met in those years were "good" enough even for a relationship, let alone to fall in love with them. Especially in this case. Twelve years is a very long time and both of them have met a lot of people in that time, but yeah, somehow neither of them stopped loving each other. Like, bruh, come on...

Truly love this series. Glad it was about as perfect as an ending as you can get. Thanks for translating and to Ise-sensei for making the series.

I liked this manga, but NGL I sort of hated the ending because I can't turn off my brain.

Twelve years. He tracks down Lou (based) during this time but not the girl he loves. Over a decade and makes no serious moves to locate her and reconnect.

Well. Better than C O M A S T R A T S at least.

Me too, this reunited lovers trope Japan loves to do is one of the worst things about romance manga, I can't stand it.
The rest of the manga was incredible, and the actual proposal scene was perfection, but why did it need to be 12 years of them not speaking to each other at all? this isn't the 1890s it was set in 1999, it could have easily left them in contact those years?? the internet age is when long distance relationships became POSSIBLE AT ALL
I sort of like the reunited lovers/second chance at your first love when its done right.
I do like the bookending of the "apocalyptic predictions".

But you cover the big glaring problem: they don't talk. I don't care if he turned off his cell, or was in areas with limited communicaton for 6 of those 12, there would have been some way of finding each other. He found goddamn Lou. Kamou was famous and he could have dropped her a "Hey, you still talk to Emi?".

I'd have much rather they had a very sad, post-college graduation "We are moving in different directions" scene then them both realizing that had been a terrible mistake than the sort of wetfart of their separation.

Thanks for taking this translation to the finish line. Fantastic work.
Fingers crossed for another collaboration in the future for Katsura/Takuma.

Him never even calling her for 12 years is absurd, what would he do if they hadn't coincidentally met this day?
That being said, despite not being interested in Magic at all I stuck with this series for years and am happy with it coming to an end. Thanks to everyone involved.

they agreed to break up and pursue their own goals - the reason for no contact.
stuff like not talking to somebody for years and hitting it up again and Yakumo becoming goth psycho are strange to people who didn't experience simillar stuff.
also there are girls playing magic in the '90s, satellites falling to Japan, a 15 years old kid getting a job at an international company traveling the world - this is not the most outlandish concept in the manga tbh...

The 12 years apart with no contact at all seems so contrived when there are multiple ways it could be avoided, but at least they finally got their happy ending.

Is it just me or there's actually an art cover of them in a wedding dress? I got a feeling I actually saw it in one of the comments when I started checking the comments section so that I could get spoiled if it's a happy or sad ending before reading it.

Now you ain't wrong however:
You can very clearly tell that this meetup was anything but random and +Cloud+ had been pulling all manner of strings, probably for months, to set it up.

The better question is why he didn't put 1% of the resoures and ingenuity required to orchestrate that into finding out her contact information and giving her a call.
