Any attempts at an explanation will end with either
"Those evil monsters have created a Cross look-alike to mock us! KILL THEM HARDER"
or
"Those evil monsters have brainwashed Cross after stealing his soul! KILL THEM HARDER!"
Yeahh I don't think there's going to be any negotiation on the table when from the offset they were that deranged. They're down so bad they're trying to single-handedly end world peace out of spite
Honestly I read the 3 chapters that were translated and I think I liked what was happening there more. Especially the
deep dive into the "heroes" motivations and their revenge on the people who got cross killed in this version.
Plus their dynamics with each other (as in the way they absolutely despise each other) combined with the comedic manner they express their love for him (if he DID survive the journey, there was either going to be one big harem or a brutal, bloody fight to the death lasting several hours) made it somehow more funny and interesting than even this version
Thats a fun twist on the setup for this kind of story.
Very mucy feels like the kind of thing that should be just a good sized oneshot though. How do you make this an actual story?
Like okay so for the first 10-20 chapters you can keep the plot going because it will take some time for the heroes to meet up with the MC. Then you can squeeze another 10-20 chapters out of gag reasons that keep interrupting their reunion.
But eventually those gag reasons and that time delay will become more and more annoying, and the second the MC meets the heroes all conflict in the story is instantly resolved. Unless you do some SERIOUS dumb bullshit.
I guess put like that though a neat compact light 30-50ish chapter story could be okay. A few volumes and call it done. Just don't overstay the premise
It's because the story has been changed from the light novel it's based on apparently, and the set up is supposed to be completely different (apart from the gist of what happens chapter 1 basically)

Wait, is that why he was called the mediator and harmonizer by Aura (cuz it didn't make any sense)? Does it mean the only reason why they are together now is because their hatred and revenge for Cross unites them?
Does it actually explain why the entire hero party is head over heels for a "generic nice guy"? It's like those shitty romance mangas or anime where girls fall over MC because he was slightly nice to them.
Also why is he saying that he doesn't have a beef with monsters or that Aura is innocent when monsters have been terrorizing and most certainly killing lots of humans, and Aura is the current Demon King = responsible for that?

they were all from different factions and conspiring to kill each other and/or end all of humanity before he showed up and convinced them to actually be friends for a bit.
Well it doesn't really explain too much but it goes into the backstory of how they met, and they were cold to him at first until they realised he was the only person they knew who genuinely didn't want anything from them other than to help. Iirc because of their backgrounds in corruption and political scheming they were used to people using them for ulterior motives, but from the get go he was just trying his best to help guide a group of people he just met, for no real benefit to himself, and they found that endearing - especially when everyone else in that same group is an obvious scumbag. They weren't immediately like "we'll burn the world down for you" but ig that came with time?
everyone else kept treating their only friend so badly (at a noble banquet he was made to eat his food off the floor like a dog for example) that they simultaneously grew overprotective of him and grew to hate the world around them
I assume it will explain further in the future since this is only 3 chapters worth of content.
I'm pretty sure it's implied that after the first night when he made them food and none of them ate it, they were all awake to hear him sobbing while eating all 5 servings by himself (despite him thinking they were asleep) and they felt so bad they immediately started being a bit nicer the following day
