I mean... he's a wishy-washy guy, and everyone knows manga girls love a wishy-washy guy. That's pretty much the norm in romance manga. The 2 things I can really defend on is the fact that he slept with Yami because at that time when he liked Hikari but wasn't even dating her at the time. Let's face it, as a teenager your sex drive is an all time high & an attractive girl is willing to sleep with you. It be hard for a guy in real life to resist but it is believable to have some hesitation thinking it is a prank or a trap. While the other is telling Hikari that he had a summer fling because God forbid you are required to tell your crush about it without making it awkward.

I was defending Yuu some chapters ago, but, you know things have changed.
At this point I'm just enjoying the drama. Wouldn't be surprised if Yuu and Yami come back together, or even if Hikari ends up with Yami or whatever shit the author comes up with. At this point I'm tired of making theories

he was unambiguously 100% correct that hikari didn't want him. she only became interested in him after he'd fucked yami, as we know from the festival chapter.
