I think what's going on here is that the actual cult is making Shion's organization out to be the Cult in order to gaslight Oliver and Orun... but Shion's organization isn't exactly helping their case considering all the murdering they've done based on their own paranoia.
Yeah, looks like these comments covered it. Jesus Christ Shion almost murdered a bunch of kids to lure out and kill her childhood friend who is the entire reason she joined a cult for, like…???? She is so fucking cooked.

So, I’m glad we’re moving onto the tournament. It hasn’t been the most organic of transitions but integrating it into a calendar specified festival helps. Can’t wait to see some good actual fighting. Hopefully Orm destroys the hero a bit. Their entire party (except the other childhood friend) needs to be stomped still.

Thanks for the translations!

Okay so, call me a noob at storytelling, but how exactly is that a bad thing? Iirc, didn't the same thing happened with Fairy Tail? (Zeref, cults, etc.)
I didn't follow Fairy Tail through, but I assume that there was some setup of this cult deal? Like provided that it's a real thing that Orn and the Hero are being cultivated by some sinister cult in order to... I guess defeat the dungeon? And that does something bad???

Where's the foreshadowing to any of it? Hell, even with these two new characters that we're supposed to have believed were always around, why weren't they established in any way before this? Or this extremely dangerous cult that kills people for unknown reasons, to fight another mysterious cult that's also not hinted at all? Oh nah they've always existed, but was never relevant up until this exact moment.

That's just poor writing.

The plot doesn't make sense. And why are we going into a tournament act after he got almost killed?????

No questioning why, not trying to get info on the other "cult", not explaining how this will affect the story. A fckn martial art contest, the cheapest kind of plot when you don't know how to progress the story.

Actually the tournament arc is pretty cool so no complains here, specially since it brings back the former hero party and...
gives them a conclusion including getting a new healer for Mc's team with the kids

"We are murdering innocent possible threats to the world!"
"Oh shit we nearly killed a childhood friend."
Me:... are you kidding me? you are fine to kill strangers but as soon it comes to someone you know.. you get in doubt?
because as far as i read it, she only joined because she thought that Orn was Dead. To Avenge him and the other Villagers. Since he isnt Dead, she now has justified Doubts about what information she gets.

Don't worry about the haters, there will always be haters, just write what you want. Even if they are reused tropes. Tropes exist for a reason, and as long as the story is entertaining people like me will read it. (Edit also I'm looking forward to the tournament arc)

Tropes are not the problem here.

they really need to explain this cult bs. while the guild master looked shady before, it's not enough to explain why defeating all dungeons is bad. i truly hope they won't extend this secret cult plot forever only ever giving us some hints.
What do you mean? That wasn't the guild master. The only other reference to this cyclamen cult was ch26 when the name wasn't even mentioned and the face popped up. The guild master is a completely different guy and when did they ever feel shady?

why are they referring to eachother as cults?, who tf is actually in a cult I’m confused as fck😑
It seems like the "Hero" and his family are members of a cult/shadow organization, and would have attempted to indoctrinate Orn if they thought he was useful. Childhood friend is ALSO likely in a rival cult/foreign nation, but now thinks Orn is part of the cult (I don't think we've actually seen evidence of him being in the cult, just them saying "He's not useful. Don't bother with him.")
As far as we know, they are BOTH in cults, but don't view them as cults.

If I am guessing, destroying dungeon is bad, it hurts the world (maybe the classic: "dungeons are seals of a demon king." or "dungeon is what produce magic").
But even if that's the case, the anticult is really dumb. Instead of trying to recruit innocent puppet, they just kill them. If they were even slightly intelligent, they would test the waters and either recruit or kill the elites.

Vengeance is rarely logical or even sane.
