IMPORTANT SUGGESTION TO EVERYONE

Now that it's clear Mangadex is passing to new owners who want to focus on "content creators", anyone who wants to copy their subscriptions should do it immediately, cause I doubt we'll have all series listed for long even if all chapters are removed.

Mark my words, this site will keep no information of series at all, our hopes of the site becoming a possible community hub and alternative to mangaupdates and mal just won't happen.

I know I'll work on my spreadsheet all day tomorrow to get all my 3.5k subscriptions cause I won't be surprised if the site as we know don't last even a fucking week.

I really hope they at least give a list of everything removed. They have the list, either MD or NamiComi whoever is handling the legal side which appears to be NamiComi at this point, so just release it so we can all try and salvage whatever we can from this massive clusterfuck.

I keep holding off on doing my own archive of the removed titles because the google spreadsheet list just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I was one of those people who thought the other people saying "MD is dead" were over exaggerating, but honestly, this site is dead/dying at this point. Its too volatile of an environment for groups to post their work, why would you spend time on something knowing that there is a high chance that your work is going to be ripped off the site.

They claim they arent going to become Crunchyroll but that is 100% the only LEGAL option for them to do, otherwise their traffic will drop way too much and the revenue just wont be there. This is almost exactly what happened with mangahelper and crunchyroll, primarily pirated content, gets blasted with massive DMCAs and remove everything and either essentially die off (mangahelper) or go the legit route (crunchyroll) and if you want to go the legit route, you have to wipe out all pirated content.

Mangadex is dead people, backup your lists, backup as many chapters as possible because the next Dekai Archive isnt due till Fall of this year. I know thats what ill be working on over the next few days.

Dude, it's at least 7k titles and site is clearly going to go legit, everything will be removed for sure, list is useless at this point lol

Is it still too late to say this is an out-of-season April fools joke?

I just meant so we can archive and backup what has already been removed. As soon as the DMCA hit, I know me and many others immediately started backing things up but it would be nice to try and ensure that the other stuff doesnt fall into the internet abyss and can get reuploaded once mangadex 3.0 eventually appears.

They won't give list cause it's 7k series now and later remove everything else, they won't bother when the entire site will be cleaned.

Like, they're already pushing it into someone else hands, they're completely washing their hands from this situation, don't expect anything from them anymore.

The joke is on us because we actually believed the lie that they protect scanlation groups.

Also that we never realized something, Mangadex always removed series that get dmca, this situation was always inevitable but we fooled ourselves into thinking the site was safe and would last forever.

DMCAs happen here and there, usually only with series that have official translations so its not as big of a deal, but this shows that nothing is safe anymore. Not that it was THAT safe to begin with, but the illusion of safety was there.

Yeah my expectations are pretty much rock bottom at this point.

It's a big deal because it was always in front of us but we closed our eyes to it.

If Mangadex obey dmca for a series in once in a while, of course they would obey a blanket dmca like this.

Oh I know, and as soon as I read the news about Japan trying to cut down on piracy awhile ago, I knew I should have prepared myself then, but I guess i just chose to bury my head in the sand and hope for the best which clearly did not work out for me in the slightest.

Closing our eyes is kind of what i was referring to about the illusion of safety, we thought it was because we ignored the obvious that was right in front of us even though we have seen it happen multiple times before.

We always hope for the best and are lazy, so of course basically nobody prepared themselves from this.

Though ironically it wasn't Japan who did this lol

Dude, it's literally one of the reasons so many groups came here, cause mangadex supposedly always had their back.

You ask for a example as if I'm the only one who always basically knew / heard that, it was basically common knowledge to some extent.

Like I said, we simply fell for the lie.
You created a convenient fiction and didn't bother to read the site policies.
