I still don't really understand the direction this story is going in. Is it a racism allegory?

This was an original point if contention at the release of the manga, but it seems more like an exclusively western perspective. I think this manga is more apparently about colonization and subservience. The humans have basically dropped everything to worship these aliens.

It’s not about racism, it’s about watching foreigners appear with incredibly sophisticated technology and enforcing their wills on you.

Kind of like what happened to Japan, that one time.

I feel like the aliens have some kind of mass mind control/influence thing going on. Would explain the craziness of how much people worship them, like how the idol is so stunned at the idea of an alien willfully killing people.

Before the complainers arrive I'd like to remind them that all his "irrational" actions are consistent with the belief that the people he cares about are worth more than the lives of many
I get that. My point is its hard for me to care about him. Its not that he is "irrational", it's that everyone is or profoundly stupid.

The whole manga has been random to a point where the comedy and the drama don't mesh well for me most of the time at least. I would prefer if the author got rid of him cause it would at least be fun to watch his partner kill aliens.

How am I supposed to feel for this dudes dead sister when the tone shifts to a bit or he is getting caught killing random aliens again? I don't. He's a pretty generic edgelord character.

I'm not asking for him to be rational. I would like him to be interesting or fun. At least his partner is fun to watch be weird (not like she isnt just early Denji) and Lily I like him see above. Heck the hitman/teacher guy is intresting. Some of the characters are fun he just isnt one of them imo.

After re-reading this chapter I can pinpoint with more accuracy what was so confusing to me... what the fuck do I care namamoto is entering the building? She's literally a dog. She has no agency to get involved in this other than eating the alien corpses that are lying around the stage.

Like what's up with her face in the last panel? She doesn't know what's going on and all she's doesn't care about anything but food, so why the hell does she look determined? Its like the narration tells me "oh watch it namamoto is coming in and she looks pissed!" while the author has spent several chapters to assesinate her character's iq and personality.

If she was coming in saying something like "uhh I was so hungry I couldn't wait" I'd be like okay, that makes sense. Her looking like a gangster just seems out of character by now.

It looks more annoyed to me. No determination just boredom. I'm just happy it isnt another cliffhanger like the last ones have been.

Consistency is not the problem with this series. All characters have been quite consistent, the problem is that the storytelling is ass.

Of course they'd break in lmao, I'm still doubting Lily truly has a brother... But I'm willing to think that he does and that he genuinely likes Seiran and that's why he's saving him...

I think the author decided to change the MC, because at the moment the character is almost not developed compared to Kitami.
