The sad part? I don't know about Mangahelpers, but for years now Mangadex is basically the main scanlation and community hub, even if everything was removed it could still survive in some way as I said multiple times, but fact that they pushed it into NamiComi hands basically kill any chance of Mangadex existing at all, cause no way they'll keep Mangadex as a scanlation and community hub out of the kindness of their heart, they're a business after all.
I don’t really think it matters what you’d done when you have the whole attention of the industry on you. Like I recently wrote, if it was hosted in a country where they don’t care about dmcas and cease and resists, the only thing the industry needs to do to get what they want is putting money in the right pocket. Corruption goes a long way in the countries you’re suggesting.

The problem is hosting copyright material, as a community hub it would avoid that issue, they can't claim DMCA when there's nothing there to begin with :v

In my opinion, the best coexistence with DMCA is with Shonen Jump. They publish, it's publicly reflected here, I come across the material, I go to the Shonen site... in the worst-case scenario, Mangadex will end up as a proxy for Shonen and Pixiv XD.

LOL I've been reading MD longer than most of you. Don't blame me for telling it how it is, and don't get salty when you see info you don't like. It's a bad look. Enjoy the skeleton of a once-great site. Until the rest goes down in a month or two, that is
Before you go, can you tell me what your pfp is from?

List of countries that are not signatories to some form of international IP rights agreements:

Eritrea
Ethiopia
Iran
Iraq
Marshall Islands
Palau
Somalia
South Sudan

Have fun with that list.
The simplest Google search reveals at least 6 ethiopean hosting providers right off the bat. And I'm pretty sure there are hosts that are not as easy to find but specialize in the unique geopolitical qualities of their location.

I've never watched it, but I know where its from.
Its young Zero Two from, darling in the franxx
From what I have been told your better off watch gurren lagann and the only appeal is Zero Two herself.
I guess I was vague, but I meant I was asking @NaveronTheManslayer about their avatar lol

As for your reply, no wonder I felt she looked familiar

The new owner kinda proves the doomerism right tho.
I think the new owner is just a former MD staff member's brain child. NC and MD have had some kind of relationship for years.
On the Copyright Claims FAQ, No. 15; who are the content creators? The mangakas?
Likely referring to Scanlation groups since the next numbered point calls out the paywalled scanlation groups.

the dmca pretty much hit half or more of the active stuff + completed old series.
You know this how, exactly? Vibes? No one yet knows definitively which 7000+ series were removed.

You really think they'll work with stolen material?
🤷‍♂️ It'll be one of two things. No visible change or MD is shut down. NamiComi has no reason to turn MD into a copy of its own site. Seeing that NC and MD have been involved with each other in some form for years, I'm leaning more towards the former.

upload policy change
I don't think there's been any upload policy change.

I get why people are upset though since it's such a shock. If the worst happens and MD does close we'll get over it. This has all happened before and it'll all happen again eventually. Grumpy closed batoto because he was tired and MD was created. The gooners closed yiff because they lost interest and kemono was created.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true

From the language used in the faq it gives me vibes the site will simply die

Now when uploading you have to mark a checkbox that you have permission of the publisher to upload the manga and if anything happens the responsability is all on you, it's one of the reasons many groups are jumping ship lol

I think one reason people are upset is due to the utter lack of communication, first comes the upload page change and then the faq, it's giving a lot of signals people are not liking and mods staying quiet just makes it worse

It's not without reason most people already consider the site effectivelly dead

They added a content policy a couple of days ago, at the same time they added that you had to confirm you were the copyright holder.

I accidentally skipped this part and no idea how to add in a edit

I honestly doubt that "content creators" = scanlators, because legally speaking they're not creating content, they're modifying someone else content
