Does anybody have any actual provable connection between Kakao and any Japanese manga publisher, or is this just something somebody said offhand and everyone is going along with it because they want to to be true that the perfidious Koreans have tainted the honorable and famously piracy friendly Japanese?
Nobody knows if there's any connection, only thing known for sure is that Kakao has supposedly been hitting various groups and sites with dmca for whatever korean series they have, some groups even closed because of that as far as I know, so people are assuming this is simply Mangadex turn of being attacked by them
I actually even wonder if Japanese publishers need to be involved at all, can't like pretty much anyone make a DMCA claim? I would assume it's more likely some legit business did it for Kakao or something and mods simply won't question it , after all the DMCA can claim they're doing it for all the publishers but not necessarely be true, what Mangadex will do? Take them to court? Easier to just assume it's true and obey the DMCA
After all why else would something like a lolibaba grandma incest doujin, which literally has no publisher to begin with, would get hit and be removed too?
This feels like just a generic blanket DMCA for maximum damage, after all if Japanese publishers
really are involved why many of Square-Enix series got removed while others stay? You would imagine the publisher would demand all series related to them to be removed rather than pick them individually
