They clearly need the money now since they need to employ someone full time to receive every takedown notice of every German company.
we still don't know if it was comeso. theses guys usually mostly sent requests to google to remove infringing search results from the google search (see lumen database)

i would really like to know if it was them.

i live in germany, btw

Several group leaders have already gotten upload permissions on the next most likely scanlation hub.
Fantastic news, c**** looks like a decent enough successor for now, but if there is any lesson to be learned is not to put all of our eggs in one basked. Keep scans uploaded to aggregators, reddit, 4chan, discord, whatever, the more the merrier. Thank you for your work!

don't rely too much on them. the site's operator runs this project out of passion. but i don't think their opsec is good enough for the long run.

okay, then its not just me. i wanted to check out who uploaded (and now deleted) some of the english senko chapters.
the group was STALKER , that i do remember.
latest chapter was 93. a lot of, but not all, english stalker chapters for senko went missing yesterday.
i assume the uploader removed them himself to avoid being thrown under the bus by MD if shit hits the fan.

a shame that the web archive does not work properly

MD should remove the "scanlator friendly" part from its description. And disable the "Mangadex needs your Support" banner/ pop up.

no one in their right mind will still be giving them money now. its a taunt
You can only remove ten chapters at a time, after that you get a error message and need to wait a couple of minutes before you can delete again.
Fair enough if you’ve only got 133 releases like my group, but those in the thousands are going to spend an entire day deleting chapters.

Honestly I think them hosting official releases is going to kill it off fairly quickly and not in seven years. Most likely more a stop gap than anything else.

Does anybody have any actual provable connection between Kakao and any Japanese manga publisher, or is this just something somebody said offhand and everyone is going along with it because they want to to be true that the perfidious Koreans have tainted the honorable and famously piracy friendly Japanese?

Nobody knows if there's any connection, only thing known for sure is that Kakao has supposedly been hitting various groups and sites with dmca for whatever korean series they have, some groups even closed because of that as far as I know, so people are assuming this is simply Mangadex turn of being attacked by them

I actually even wonder if Japanese publishers need to be involved at all, can't like pretty much anyone make a DMCA claim? I would assume it's more likely some legit business did it for Kakao or something and mods simply won't question it , after all the DMCA can claim they're doing it for all the publishers but not necessarely be true, what Mangadex will do? Take them to court? Easier to just assume it's true and obey the DMCA

After all why else would something like a lolibaba grandma incest doujin, which literally has no publisher to begin with, would get hit and be removed too?

This feels like just a generic blanket DMCA for maximum damage, after all if Japanese publishers really are involved why many of Square-Enix series got removed while others stay? You would imagine the publisher would demand all series related to them to be removed rather than pick them individually

This is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for Mangadex, It was already struggling before given that it has a "Support Mangadex" ad and unless they somehow manage to bring back the chapters, It's only matter of time before Mangadex resorts to using pop ads as a main source of income and ultimately end up shutting down due to not being able to pay for the site to stay up.

Lots of good sites ending up resorting to extraneous ads and ultimately shutting down, most of them are Anime sites.

You can say comick. You won't get banned and they're openly talking about it on the 17k active member discord so it's not like it's a secret or anything.
You can only remove ten chapters at a time
I checked out that groups releases and quite a lot was removed. I think they must have started prior to the DMCA. Either that or it was part of the DMCA.

Support Mangadex
That's nothing new. It comes and goes over the years.

If anything it'll just be banner ads, but even that is a last resort.

demand all series
Just a shot in the dark, but it could be based on a time frame? Like remove all chapters uploaded between these two dates, but with specific series marked to be removed entirely? Seems like a lot of unnecessary detail though. 🤷‍♂️

DMCAs have to be pretty specific - you can't do blanket 'remove anything of mine' type requests, even if you include a list.

Even if they could base on time frame IP holders would simply want all chapters removed, they wouldn't be so generous as say to for example demand remove only chapters until X date cause the series is removed, anything not being sold yet is a-ok.
