This smells like a revenge manga that's not really a revenge manga its just pretending to be a revenge manga and all of the scumbags will be forgiven for...legitimately no reason

Badly written revenge power fantasy. MC clockwork related power are really "can do everything" powers. The antagonists are too cliché to even be called "cartoon vilain", yeah it's bad slop.

Looking at volume 4 cover his sister Alice might join the fray and she could have been oblivious about his situation at the beginning. :thonk:

I looked at the raws, and from what I could get from the panels (and translations I can no longer find), his sister didn't seem to know that he was convicted of a crime and made a slave. Her comments about him being useless, nonetheless, did harm any creditability he had after the false accusations, and in her grief she tried to kill herself by falling into the very hole he did while his party was exploring the dungeon. She was saved by him, and shortly after (next chapter or so), he seems to have forgiven her after he came to terms that she didn't know the damage she was doing.

As for her joining him, that I am unsure about, but it kinda seems to be going in that direction.

She also mentioned sending him money, but I guess it was witheld by the church or some others.

Ah, I remember reading this novel
The story is a fucking mess and requires all parties involved to be extremely stupid and delusional...which I guess is par of the course for an exiled party type story.
I'm particularly pissed off at the sister though, she's a literal child throwing tantrums

ngl I was going in expecting MC's power to be like Dio's time stop or Doppio's ability to see 10s into the future. Peak creativity though.

But man, this entire manga is literally just "The people in charge are 'le bad' ?" as if the concept of lying is only seen in peasants and shit is downright hilarious.

I think what you're trying to say is. A manga that teaches how to heal and prosper. The best revenge is when you bounce back at life while those who wronged you fall individually.
And honestly, I can't see how MC's acquaintances are seen as betrayers. I mean, just like the rest of the capital, they ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, as the scumbag knight said in the next chapter[spoileralert]("it takes someone as noble pretty image to convince a bunch of dummasses"), so clearly, Maria and Miranda have been deceived in thinking MC's trash. Let's not pretend that superficial Japanism isn't at play here, people, even his sister didn't betray him, she just acted as a freacking carefree brat with no awareness of whether people would take her word to consideration and out of context. Both his ex-fiancée and sister did send him letters and money, reasonably, to provide for him since they knew he would have a hard time in the capital due to his vocational skill, but the middlemen in all this were the actual culprits since they were embezzling the money intended for the MC and the letters with money were mixed in the douchebag police's bs testimony to sound legit. So sure, to some of ya'll, they should deserve the red pill treatment, I can see that, but the women and the saint only reacted the same way a person would react if they showed proofs, regardless of whether it was framed or not.

There's just bits and pieces that set this apart but overall the 'revenge' plot I think will be dissatisfying to most anyone regardless of how sadistic or generous you might be. As far as I've gotten, some of the consequences are starting to show up for those who betrayed our MC but the thought process behind events and reasoning doesn't really hold up.

Without giving too much away, I think the problem centers around the notion that everyone was told MC had a shit skill and had apparently accepted this and even tried to support the guy. But the circumstances surrounding his accusation and the COMPLETE lack of defense is intentionally meant to be absurd and is the basis for parts of the eventual 'revenge' when the important people in his life regret not believing him. That concept itself is perfectly understandable but the execution comes off as too contrived. It only gets worse when you get into the specific actions taken once that remorse hits.

Non-spoiler spoiler - rather than trying to actually take responsibility for any of this, it seems every one of them choose the path of suffering rather than making amends (not including the truly evil ones, of course). And the method they choose to suffer is just insane in some cases. Hence, this story tends to feel contrived for the sake of the author wanting to make characters suffer but didn't place enough importance on creating the narrative that gets to the result in a satisfying way.

I read the comments about this being slop, and I enjoy some slop here and there...

Boy were those comments misleading, this isn't slop, this is just straight up trash, it's animal abuse to feed this kinda shit to pigs even.
