This one actually sorta makes sense, like how some smokers will tell you to never smoke. They know it's terrible, but they're way too far gone to get out of it (they're not, but that's an entirely different can of worms), so they warn others to not take the path they did. It might seem hypocritical, but I guess that's their way of atonement, in a way.

The pick-up artist/rapist lecturing Mary completely came out of left field though. Completely lost my shit there.
