There are species who absorb magic energy, but that’s more for the breeding process rather than specifically to block magic.

Unfortunately, giant spiders are impossible due to square cube laws. They wouldn't have the strength to move, or even support their own weight. And even a small drop would cause them to, uh, splash.

Of course, if it were something that just resembled a spider, that could be different. But then you'd expect a lot of differences in how they look and act.
