I was honestly excited to be getting chapters dedicated to Yuu's POV. I kept saying we needed to see his side of things to make accurate judgment calls.
To be honest, I think we could have left these Yuu POV chapters out and still been on the same page. Everything revealed is just more dumb Yuu bullshit where he doesn't try to make an attempt to maybe do something or anything that would further his relationship with Hikari. I mean let's break it down:
Yuu Chapter 1: He meets Hikari for the first time in 1st grade and she sticks up for him in class when they made fun of his chicken pox spots. He starts to look up to her. What does he do in this chapter except exist? NOTHING.
Yuu Chapter 2: His admiration for Hikari has turned into love by 5th grade. His friend writes a fake love letter to Hikari and signs Yuu's name on it. Yuu grumbles about it but doesn't really do anything about the letter because this is right up his alley - if Hikari believes it then he's able to have her fall into his lap without having to actually do anything. Hikari instantly figures out Yuu didn't write it (BECAUSE YUU DOESN'T DO ANYTHING SO THERE'S NO WAY HE COULD HAVE WRITTEN IT). Yuu's heart is "broken" because Hikari didn't once think the letter could have been legit. Oh poor Yuu, his method of being a slug laying on the side of the road hoping for rain didn't pan out....oh the humanity. This little dumbass is thinking Hikari never could have imagined the possibility of him liking her and I'm sitting here screaming that she's not psychic....like wtf has Yuu done to make Hikari think he's anything more than a friend?!
Yuu Chapter 3: Yuu finds out Hikari's going to a hard to get into high school. He has maybe 4 months to start studying to get in so it's already next to impossible. He's also finding out that it's been her choice of school all along which begs the question: "How close are you two as friends if you don't even know this about her?" She's been planning this for years and you're just finding this out now? After it's already been established that Hikari hangs out as his house multiple times a week and is practically at Yuu's house more than her own. How the hell does Yuu not know about this? Again, it seems like he doesn't do anything (like ask questions) and just hopes information falls into his lap. I love how Yuu says "She hadn't noticed even a sliver of my feelings." Bitch you never reveal anything about yourself. He's like a blank wall.
Yuu Chapter 4: After speaking to a girl for 20 minutes she falls out of the sky and right onto his dick. IT'S MAGIC Y'ALL...MAGIC EXISTS IN THIS WORLD. It's the most perfect relationship that Yuu could have ever imagined! What Yuu brings to the table: breathing...awkwardness...dumbassery. What Yami brings to the table...teasing...sex...apparently she smells good? Author glosses over the entire relationship - we don't get any of Yuu's thoughts on topics such as "man I think Yami has a bad home life - what's that about?", "how come I don't know where Yami lives?", "why doesn't Yami go to school anymore". Instead, 20 minutes after they fuck (so like what 40 minutes into their entire "relationship") he's all "are we in a relationship now?" and ignores Yami talking about her being a convenient woman for him and pretty much all signs of this being a whim.
Fuck it, I don't want to do this anymore.
