The twist isn't as big of a surprise to me because I read some M/M romance novels that were based on Cinderella.
I do like this artist's style.

I almost thought it at the start, then realised it was THIS anthology so it was 100% going to be "surprise, Cindarella's a guy!" at the end.

I legit feel baited. It wasn't the best chapter anyway and making it yuri probably wouldn't have fixed it - it kind of just missed the mark on the Villainess concept, but the tease of yuri only to sweep it away and have it be straight kind of just killed it for me. I'd probably be more actually mad if the straight-twist had blindsided me, rather than it being part of the non-Yuri Villainess anthology tipping me off early on...

i gotta say, there's something about the art and designs that feel very fairy tale-like. it's giving like... early 2000s emo-adjacent shoujo but with a 2020s polish and sensibility (actually i feel like the story is like this too). it's good is what i'm saying!! i love how the artist simplifies the silhouettes when needed but still manages to portray some lovely details in the close-ups (and whenever ella/erald shows up).

the twist was predictable but i loved the story all the same. it felt truly like a one shot villainess story with a fairy tale focus.

It was almost really refreshing. Cinderella's sisters are like the OG villainesses. But uh. Execution. And the sudden prince "twist..." I was hoping all the way to the end but well. We've read 14 volumes of this. Most of 13 of which had strictly female MC/male ML blurbs. We know where this goes.

I never thought of the evil stepsisters as villainesses, but...no yeah. That checks out.

I was wondering the whole time whether or not she realized her sister was actually a brother. Since she was offering dresses, surely she'd have realized at some point?

Anyway, I enjoyed the way the artist did Anessa when she was being expressive. The pacing was a bit weird at the end, but it was a wholesome build-up of affection.

I like the idea though. We should do some other fairy tales.

Well, it isn’t yuri but that’s not a surprise when it comes to this manga 😭. I think there’s a yuri villainess anthology out there so we’ll have to be content with that instead…

Wasn’t there a one shot like that here? Where the Isekai’d heroine saves the villainess from illness as a child, so she becomes obsessed with her and the crown prince has to take them both in as consorts?
