Literally "rejected a public confession from her" seems like a poor place to launch a "he is secretly madly in love with me" feint, but have seen more overwrought plots.

Never going to go there, but there is a universe where "he makes a move encouraged by classmates at the EXACT same time she suffers pangs from vaguely defined degenerative disease that he interprets as rejection and she doesn't realize (or alternatively watch is screwing up if she does realize the misstep)" is a thing.

We weren't given a clear date for the rejection, but we do know that it occurred during the final year of middle school, at the latest.

At least a year has passed, and they're now in a new school. It isn't unreasonable to think his feelings towards Rikka could have changed. Plus, a lot of people wouldn't know about the rejection at the old school with the mostly new student body.

I definitely want Uichi to confess to Yotsuha. However, if Uichi did, I think Yotsuha would probably reject him because of her disease.

I have a theory, Maybe the watch stops working when Yotsuha is on her way towards the timeline she is working towards, thus, there's no need for her to time travel, but when she wavers from the "True Ending" the watch starts working again to give her a chance to fix it. I might be reaching but I'd be interested to know if anyone agrees or disagrees.

This is something I actually love a lot, since the mangaka does a great job of balancing her knowing everything yet still being vulnerable + clueless.

Ah...well, I guess it isn't surprising that Uichi had too much trauma and sh*t on his mind to think about the nature if his relationship with Yotsuha..

But it's good that he's now starting to realize that she wouldn't be this affectionate if she just saw him as a friend, and pondering what to do from here.

Best result would be him bursting in and confessing to Yotsuha in front of everyone while they're still arguing without specifying and so for a split second everyone thinks he's actually confessed to Rikka (everyone else because of the fake letter, Rikka because of her narcissism) before he goes on and is like "I've loved you ever since elementary school Yotsuha" or something along those lines.

Honestly that is a really interesting and totally plausible idea, no evidence for it but I love the concept.
