holy shit, how is this so hard? Mikarin wasn't sitting on her ass for years just hoping he'd pick her like every other "childhood friend" heroine, she was blocked by Okamura's super specific "issue" with love/3d girls that was conveniently only able to be solved by Lilysa perfectly mimicing his 2D waifu with her cosplay skills, that's stacking the deck in a ridiculously unfair way.

What's worse, by declaring that she will have feeling for him forever she will not be able to truly love anyone else new, and will end up all alone in her old age while these two will have fulfilled lives and probably grandkids.

Totally unfair, this manga with this chapter tanked in my eyes so much I cannot describe it. Good thing it's ending in 3 chapters.

i do think Okumura needed a bit more of an arc to resolve his situation with the ladies of his life, but this chapter is treating him like a mongoloid child, he's not top tier MC material, but he doesnt need this

This is clearly setting up an airport chase. Like the main thing that’s things have been setting up is that it’s Okumura’s choice on who he confesses too. Mikari avoided the trap that is cosplaying as Lilliel, because for Okumura to fully heal it’s to realize he doesn’t need Lilliel anymore. And he’s basically on the edge of that now. You can see that how every other “confession” was done with a Lilliel Cosplay.

When his Mom left and Marina left, he had no agency in the decision. Now that Mikari is leaving he does have the power. You see it in his expression this chapter, he had steeled himself for a Mikari confession.

More so the ending of Ashford Chronicles still has a role to play, and that’s basically its own half a chapter. Any route with a Mikari confession would require resolving the relationship with Lilysa anyways. Mikari is as defeatist as like a third of the comment sections everywhere, so you need that conclusion before you could proceed.

Everything is pointing to a Mikari x Okamura ending. Every other realistic romantic rival got a payoff to the character arc. Lilysa got her perfect cosplay (and already confessed like 50 chapters ago). And Aira patched things up with her family and, let’s face it, she’s not a contender on Lilysa or Mikari’s level.

Otherwise, it’s like, thanks for the ten years of anguished pining Mikari. Turns out it was all for nothing. You, who in a flashback a chapter ago, said there was nothing she wanted a birthday present and immediately made a gift for her parents instead. And has only ever wanted one thing. Yeah turns out you’re the loser.

But I'm guessing this is pointing to a shared 1st place because there's also no clear resolution for Lylisa. Not my preferred outcome to be frank, but as long as Mikari finally gets some happiness I'll deal with it
