Something tells me shes either planning to betray the princess and capture her, or shes going to attack Ars.

(Im always sceptical of new characters unless its reasonable to not be sceptical)

I may be insane but I think Ars IS Mimir, I can already tell at this point its gonna be a kind of a self-fufilling prophecy

It would be even worse of an asspull than the "i can copy magic i hear" because he was literally confined to his cell this whole time. He also said he wants to meet him, and I doubt he'd make such a strange lie as an excuse for going there.

I'm assuming Mimir either has the gift of "speech", or "seeing", if we're gonna do the whole 5 senses thing (man, the gift of "Touching" and "Smelling" would be wild to include here). I say those 2 cause the other 2 would not make sense for knowledge stealing, tho you never know.

Didn’t expect to see Demon Lord as a title in a human organisation.
I just checked the raw. The title is 魔王, which is typically translated as 'demon lord' in the context of manga and light novels and I'm sure is what a machine translation would spit out. The characters literally mean "demon/witch/magic" "king/lord." Since it's being used for humans, I think a better translation would be one like "Magic Lord."

The tower ranking system is stupid, "demon lord" rank in a world that had demon lords that left a area ruined for generations.
The suspicion they have towrds MC makes sense, unknown dude and all.
Wonder what the elf church wants from the princess, being light magic I'm guessing she can heal or something and they want to force her to be a saint, pretty retarded to start a war though, but of course there must bve someone with the gift of enslaving and they have it.

Basically knock her up until they get the bloodline bingo.

For the rank thing, I’ve seen a couple of manga where “demon lord” was considered people at the height of magic. I guess I can see why, even if it’s a little off putting. Probably like how people achieve the rank of Dragon, even though they are notoriously moody lizards.

Heya!
You're right. To my defense (or otherwise), the blame is totally on me, since I translate it personally. The moment I saw 魔王, my stupid ahh isekai-reading brain automatically translated it as "Demon Lord" without a second thought.

All instances of Demon Lord and Demon Emperor should be updated to Magic Lord and Magic Emperor shortly, after a bit of processing time. Thank you for reaching out, btw!

True, I was in a good mood and didn't think they want to kidnap her not to use her power for faith or some similar purpose but rape a light gift bloodline out of her.
Involved in destroying a kingdom to get her, wouldn't be surprising at all.

Yeah, the implications are uncomfortable, but unfortunately there are presidences.

So like others, I'm thinking the elf is Mimir. My guess is that he also has an so-called incompetent skill, maybe touch, which is why he is adamant about capturing her. Unlike MC who is copying the spells, Mimir's evolved touch is probably used to steal the skills which is why everyone is concerned. He may even be the reincarnation of the demon lord (entity not magic rank) and bent on collecting all the rare magic before rampaging again. This is all just speculation.

Something that makes no sense is that everyone apparently only gets one skill, so how would anyone be the pinnacle of magic. You might be the pinnacle of fire magic or earth magic, but being limited to one skill means no one individual could claim to be the best at magic. That would mean the moment the princess saw the MC use two different skills it would automatically make him the pinnacle even if he wasn't the best in any one category. I'm guessing they'll explain it away through some state secret that some bloodlines can hold multiple skills. God this is trash.

Not really, MC is able to use many magics and he have no elemental affinity of magic related gift, he is the proof that gifts help but not make someone the best mage on the spot, he just learned the chants and practiced in secret as his life depened on it, he surely had the natural potential as a mage, just no gift related to it.
So if someone with a gift related to learning spells or having a large mana pool or multi-elemental affinity and the effort to become a good mage popped out they could make it, the pinnacle of magic doesn't have to mean someone that mastered all of them but even just being better than anyone else in that era.
I believe the elf brought the thing up as a writing mistake and to make us readers learn the one MC is seeking is around.
It can't be MC because again, he just broke out of prison, no one knew he was learning chants, it was a extremely weird and forced connection they tried to make, the first people he encountered are the princess and the chasers.
