One-time payments don't pay for recurring expenses such as server costs. That's why so many companies are moving from one-time payments to subscriptions. If you pay 50 USD once, and that turns off ads forever, that won't pay the bills. The real question here should be the Supporter part, like, the idea of AD's is to pay for the operational costs of the server, alright, fair.
But here is the thing, why all the Support Tiers are billed monthly, no one thought of having a Tier which can make a one time in life payment and that's it? At least just so the person can block the AD's?
It kind of seems like the NamiComi coin system allows for this - it appears you can do a one-time purchase of coins. Not sure whether it'll let you gradually feed those to Dex-chan each month without having a recurring coin purchase set up, but the framework appears to be there to do this. But yeah, it would be nice to be able to pay for X months of ad-free browsing upfront -- once -- instead of having to enter into a subscription agreement.
It's a chromium-trash browser.I don't mind ads, whether they're necessary to cover expenses or not. Most people don't appreciate the work and expenses involved in running a large website like this one.
As for the ads (at least for PC), I think they should be vertical banners on the sides, which are usually empty space. No sound or video, and please god, no pop-ups.
Opera GX is completely fine; it's not spyware. Edge and Chrome are just as bad, if not worse, at collecting data. If all advertisers are like Opera then you are already have better Ads than most sites.
Man, you are doing this for several days now.Never seen a bigger group of internet pussies jfc.
Time for a Plonk.Man, you are doing this for several days now.
You had several nights of sleep, not being on the pc and are still raging.
What is this, 2008?Sorry... as far as i can tell, most of people laptop (and PC) that i know of often have 1366x768 for screen resolutions.
Only a few people has 1920×1080.
Nah, poverty.What is this, 2008?
I agree, I'm all for ads, but this is a joke, it takes up half the screen on the mobile app aswell. Plus its blurry, how tf is it blurry 🤷♂️Ads are ok but not those that auto redirect you to another site without your consent

you can quite literally cancel your subscription after being billed once or however many months you want and you will retain all the supporter privileges, source: myself, I did it, look under my name. The real question here should be the Supporter part, like, the idea of AD's is to pay for the operational costs of the server, alright, fair.

Reasking that one, how long are the ads expected to continue running?Btw, is there an estimation of how long the "short while" is?
how much does ad space go for now a days? We’re introducing a bit of non-intrusive advertising to help cover operational costs, working only with carefully chosen partners.
Supporters, as always, get to enjoy things ad-free.
Once our expenses are covered, the ads will take a little vacation (hopefully for a long while).
Thanks for helping us keep the lights on (and the servers happy)!
2025-10-05: We didn't expect the ad banners to get displayed the way they did (they're comically big due to us testing with smaller placeholder banners), and we're working on a rework to make the ads be less annoying in general.
Until we start chipping in. And that's fair.Reasking that one, how long are the ads expected to continue running?
