IMO lemon should get punished. Yuuri will finally lose a case after all that winning streak, and Lemon will personally know what it's like to be punished, deserved or not.

The side of me that demands "recompense be paid" wants to see Lemon punished consummate to what she put every other Magical Girl she prosecuted went through, all at once.

I also realize that's me being incredibly vindictive and petty toward her specifically for her part in doing to so many, beyond what we've seen in this manga. I also realize that it makes me no better than Lemon, in a way, by demanding what amounts to vengeance over "actual justice".

But I also suspect that our protagonists will undoubtedly save her, and my hope is that maybe Lemon gets a wake-up call as to the horrific system that she works to uphold - and maybe my suspicions about the Court itself being the "final boss" for the MGs all over will end up being true.

But if she doesn't show any remorse for her part in terms of the humanistic sense of things...then yeah, I'd want her punishment to be "everything you made happen to everyone else, done to you at once" or something.

But more seriously in the spirit of the actual manga itself - I do wonder how she was defeated, and how exactly this trial will take place (as in...who the prosecutor would be, and so on).

i think she took the hit because she really is starting to understand that the system is fucked- but she feels as though that she has no right to critize it due to her being one of its most powerful weapons- thus instead of going against it, shes going to punish herself by saveing one of her own victims from it and takeing their place.

The law being harsh on Magical Girls make sense since they have powers beyond humans and can use them for evil and stuff like that. So harsh punishment in regards to abuse to magic makes sense.

It however never made senseto punish MGs who lose in battle, because surprise you cannot win all the time. And really if they don't want MGs to lose, maybe do a team or partner system so that MGs can both save more people and tag team monsters.
Because so far most MGs seem to fight solo unless another MG is nearby, who might jump in to help. One can even make a annual test which checks if a MG has gotten stronger etc, there are various ways to motivate MGs to become better at their jobs, but the harsh punishment for losing it not it.

I think the reason for defeat having some crazy punishment is for the benefit of the elites that watch the trials and punishments as a show.

Also, I think Lemon should be subject to a punishment. I mean she has a valid power that can help those around her and yet she chooses instead to use it to harm those who actually are fighting and who already are subject to a punishment face a worse punishment. She seems to think she is being helpful but in reality she is making it worse for everyone else.

Mii is right. No one deserves these punishments. However, I do want to see Lemon punished (though we all know that won't happen thanks to Yuuri) if only so she can get a wake up call and see the horror she's putting other magical girls through).

It kinda needed to seeing as it was load bearing for the series. It's the most fucked aspect of the world and unlike Ace Attorney it doesn't explain that all cases have to end within 3 days because the system's fucked immediately at the start.

I'm afraid that Lemon's character have been heavily misinterpreted.
She is not a sadistic villain that enjoy to see the magical girls suffer. She only do her job.
So being the one that know better than anyone else what happen when a magical girl is defeated, is not so strange that she decided to take action and save her.
