While his heart is in the right place, explaining her circumstances to a bunch of assholes is not going to change the fact that they are in fact assholes. The whole exchange ends up coming across as cheesy. I think progress is better made by having Kisaragi feel that it's okay to be who she is. That said, this interaction may play a role in that process, seeing as she witnessed it; maybe she'll confront these jerks next chapter and be able to move on from her trauma somewhat.

As a former bully back in elementary school, I would not even bother to listen to kids when they tried to talk me into stopping.

My ego trip ended when one day I tried to show off and climb a tall fence, fell and broke my chin;

Then found out no one had my back to help me, cause the "villain" doesn't actually have friends when it matters.

Had to walk all the way home alone with my chin bleeding out.

That straightened me out right the fuck out quick.
