i don’t think winning the fight is actually necesssry. A desperate dude with nothing left to lose can do quite a bit of damage. If he loses his teeth he can tear out some flesh and give some scars that’ll never heal

I really hope that he faced the bullies and defended her, and not hit her like others suggest. I put my theory on a fact that when she became nice to him, even to the point where she was being bullied herself, he starts to soften toward her. He may be thinking of revenge, but as others pointed out what he says and thinks does not match up what he feels.

And this is perfect time to put those feelings to the test and have him save her.
