Not in the sense of forcing their child into their own preconceived notions of propriety, but bad in the political sense.

They got a princess who is interested in training, seems to be strong in magic and physical combat. Shouldn't they be using her to enhance the royal family's power? Give her command of a squad of knights, or run an inquisition / spy department, etc.
