It's a refreshing change of pace to have a chill mother in these kinds of stories. Usually, it devolves into that well-worn plot of "Oh, it's a yokai/monster!" attitude leading into the 'winning over the parents' shenanigan that ends in some 'actually evil' yokai that the parent gets saved from.

I was eating good this chapter with a down-to-earth premise and lots of character revealing dialogue. I totally thought there would be a reveal that Goro-mama couldn't see Kogane's ears and tail, but, nope, Kogane is just an airhead. While it would be easy to label Goro-mama's acceptance of Kogane as "too easy", her acceptance is informed by her worry for her stressed out son who wasn't really living life the past few years. She's just happy her son is once again living life. Plus, there's a nice message in Goro-mama accepting Kogane with only a few awkward, probing questions.
