I found the inclusion of the alien rival to be the weakest part of the oneshot. I had hoped this would be handled differently in the serialization. Alas, it was not to be. Still really looking forward to what is in store for us now, since we're now outside of the everything the oneshot covered!

I haven't been really looking at Lulu either, Ten. It took me 10 chapters to realize she has webbed fingers.
I noticed the fingers earlier but somehow I never noticed how big her ears are? Her eyes and facial expressions are usually so emotive I haven't paid as much attention to detail as I thought. Time to re-read and appreciate the art design more

Welp, this is pretty anti-climatic.

After some thought, I think this chapter in-and-of itself is quite strong. Lulu is passive and permissive to a fault, so her main antagonist being someone who she can easily physically beat, but chooses to run away from, or even give in to, because of fear and learned helplessness is extremely fitting. Lulu finally getting the strength to confront her because of Ten, not only because Ten believes in her, but also because Lulu now has someone she wants to protect is also great.

However, for this moment to be as big as the series seems to want it to be, it needed way more build up, and what's worse, the buildup it got is actively counter-productive. Before this chapter, this alien wasn't built up as someone from Lulu's past who she was personally scared of, she was built up as a super powerful and frightening alien queen coming to fuck up the plot. I think because of that, when Lulu oneshots her like she's nothing, I felt more like "what the fuck, I thought she was supposed to be a serious threat," rather than "wow, I can't believe Lulu defeated her personal mental demons and finally confronted the person who she's been running away from, this is an important moment of growth for her character, so epic."

I know this probably isn't the last we're going to see of this alien, so hopefully the story uses her well in the future, but this introduction is real mixed bag for me.

Thank you for the TL
