This sort of resolution tracks with the art and the rest of the story thus far. This was never going to be grim dark. And the FMC helping out, automatically meant this wasn't going to be tragedy.

I agree the system is quite stupid but real life is extremely stupid too. I suppose one wants to escape from the stupidity of real life but personally I just shrug and move on.

Also assassins can kill people, they can't make'em work.
