They really did Skeleton Knight justice imo. He's really cool here and the part where he discard half of his sword so he can two handed wield the rest is just peak.

Avan is also really great. "The moment I noticed that I lost the ability to take your life." That's our hero right there.

Totally agree!

It is my head-cannon that the only reason Bartos in the original series seems so goofy and non-threatening is because we only ever see him through Hyunkel's memories... and to Hyunkel he was a kindly father, not a scary badass. I love the glow-up he's gotten in this series.

Honestly can see that interpretation to be true. Ironically if Hyunkel ever had a kid his kid might have the same impression of him.
