If it's ending after this arc, then this shit is even worse than I thought. Why the fuck is the author wasting what limited chapters there are left on this irrelevant, boring bullshit instead of the reason anyone is reading this manga, the relationship?
Stop bitching about it and stop reading then.

Man, the exam arc is very important for Kyotaro. The whole reason Kyotaro became the way he is is because he failed his junior high school exam, which traumatized him, and now he's trying not to hide, but to try again. The main point of Kyotaro himself was that he was slowly recovering from the state he was driven into by his interaction with Yamada, and the obvious point in the story is that this time he succeeds, which completes his healing. This isn't even some made-up problem; these were obvious hints long before they became a couple. And what Kyotaro is going through now is a reality for Japanese teenagers. Manga has always made the problems of growing up one of its main aspects. Throw that away because some people are only interested in the random cute moments of couples to such an extent that they don't even care about the characters and their problems.

It reminds me of some Sono Bisque Doll fans who complained that cosplay takes time away from the main romantic storyline, when Fukuda herself said that the manga is primarily about cosplay.

Wait they're not even in highschool ? How do you fail an exam for highschool bro middle school is the easiest shit ever, I thought they were studying for college all this time

1. The Japanese education system is stricter, as is the case in the Far East in general. There are cases when students have to retake exams after a year because they failed them.

2. Kyotaro is trying to get into a prestigious private school with very high passing score. The school he failed the exam for is at about the same level in this regard. In the previous chapter, it was even mentioned that many people apply here and also apply to the school that Ichikawa made his first choice.

I remember how popular that series was at one point and decided to take a gander at it. The text-walls about make-up bored me to death, so I stopped.

Romance needs to have a subplot to be better than a run-of-the-mill Twitter comic, and some people don't get that. Kyotaro's exam arc is specifically about his personal growth and coming to blows with his pessimistic self. Sono Bisque infodumps just felt like the author had nobody to talk to about cosplay so they shoehorned Wikipedia articles into the chapters.

But unlike some characters commenting here, I just stopped reading and moved on, haha

Them still treating him as a loner and "outsider" despite him dating Yamada and being "friends" with some of them is kinda funny
I'm pretty sure it's actually because Kyotaro and Anna were having a fight because of Sekine and they didn't want to make things worse. They didn't realize Kyo and Anna had made up already.

Just consume product and get excited for next product.
The irony is that's what you're doing. You don't want to think about the characters and their situation and how that affects them and their relationship. You just want mindless romcom fluff.

Ooooh, this chapter was awesome. Mr. Main Character assuming everyone is taking him into account just because his girlfriend did(except when chocolate was nearby)
Yeah and they had no idea that they didn't know he failed. Was funny but awkward

It's kind of insane how in Japan every high school has their own set of exam tests. So kids are forced to take three or four separate exams for each of the schools they are trying to get into instead of just having a standardized one.

Also how the hell does that work? Do they test all subjects in one single examination. It seems unlikely that they'd have one test per subject as is the norm elsewhere, since that would require way too much time and utterly exhaust the kids.
now u should understand why they have high suicide rate
