In case this wasn't obvious, Akane's saying she's flat too, though honestly Akane seems about normal human woman? I guess flat for manga. Interestingly, long long ago the manga talked about foxes working on their human form and kind of made it sound like they could influence it, so Akane could have all the bazongas she wants. But then it kind of suggested each fox also has a 'natural' human form they find easier to hold, which is also why their human form ages and gains weight along with their fox form. ~handwavey~!

So Goro is special in some way? I dunno how I feel about that. Maybe it's an attempt to retroactively make it so Kogane didn't just try to marry the first random salaryman on a jog, which could be good... Also the Senko-san manga eventually made its protagonist important in some spiritual sense as well, so I hope this doesn't end up feeling too derivative.

Akane: "Goro-kun is... the second, huh..." It is also important to remember that Akane was a fox bride, but her husband died shortly (one day?) after their wedding. (EDIT: Akane mentions this in chapter 60.2, however, her fiance died the day after he proposed and they were never married.) Looks like the walls she's built around her heart are starting to crack. She's showing a bit of jealousy towards Kogane, and not just for her figure. Maybe the effect Goro has on others with his determination, loyalty, and kindness is part of this "Guardian" thing. I fully expected Mogami-sama to start kicking ass and taking names next chapter, so I'm glad we get straight to it. Thanks as always to sarusa.

Ah, sweet Rindo, she deserves all the hugs; the fact that she was almost your daughter instead would have made for good drama and story beat, but I understand they did not go for that.

Also, i almost predicted the last two chapters with mentioning how the gods can feel emotions, and the call to Mogami made me giggle-smile. I'm happy about it.

In rereading some chapters to find the citation for Akane's fiance, I came across something else that may be relevant to this chapter. Chiaki, Akane and Kogane's mom, once (chapter 43) told Goro, "There is no need for a human to force himself to fight against non-humans, okay?" Zanma-sensei has been pretty consistent in this message, and has even shown that Goro doesn't have spiritual power and trying to give him some would court more problems than it solves (chapter 69 [nice]). We've been told humans shouldn't fight non-human battles, but Kogane's curse shows us that non-humans shouldn't fight humans, either. Maybe Goro's role as "Guardian" is not to suddenly develop superpowers, but to use his humanity and his own skills (salaryman lvl 100) to protect Kogane and the other friendly non-humans he's formed bonds with. And, overseeing all of this are gods like Mogami- and Ukano-sama, who have the ability to interact in both the human and non-human world. No wonder Mogami-sama is such a good middle-manager! Anyway, just some thoughts I had.

Ngl i was a little bit dissapointed at how quickly and easily it was solved last chap. Now im intrigued that the author instead is using it as a springboard to launch into something more interesting, which im a fan of. I also appreciate that author made sure to make a point of the god casually scolding her like a parent would a child that made an avoidable mistake. "Learn from the consequences, now let the adults easily undo your mistake and dont repeat it."
