Onee-san being sus of him "like being posses by a fox" gives me confidence in what I sad last chapter.
His monster fox aura was pretty literal indeed! :meguupog:

I wonder if hes a god in the making or is going to be the father to one for that region thats being unguarded.
Things are set up really nicely as well knowing Onee-san is more than qualified to be a good messenger fox as she was previously invited to become one. Goro has the house wife and an external messenger and setup good connections with the local youkai.

Wait, yeah. Didn't they try the whole fox possession thing with Goro earlier and it failed? Was it because he was already possessed at that point?

Good thing this happens in Japan and not the US.

IRS auditor: Sir, you claimed an exemption for... $15,000 in gifts last year. Upon examination of your supporting paperwork, these all appear to be snacks.
Goro: I have a lot of in-laws-to-be.

Thanks for the chapter!

You know Goro is respected in Kongo village when the leaders don't complain when he makes tons of work for them with his "reward". But, it's just like Goro to selflessly use his reward for the greater good. Goro was ruled out as unsuitable for being a "fox possessor", but that was something Goro and the Kongo foxes were able to do. It seems clear with the set up here that Goro is already under the auspices, let's say, of the guardian spirits of Kongo village. We know that the land has no god, but the guardian spirits are clearly active (and hungry). Maybe as Goro gets stronger and becomes more connected to Kongo village, the guardian spirits get stronger and are able to empower him more and more. And who's to say the guardian spirits didn't put Goro and Kogane into each other's paths? Thanks as always to sarusa and thumper, and shout out to Chuito for nailing it.

To paraphrase a dragon living in Louisiana, "Even the Loch Ness can't hide from Google Maps forever." It's good for them to change with the times and make adjustments for the day when they have to reveal themselves to the world for both their own safety and humanity's safety because I can also assume the rest of the world has measures to fight off monsters and yokai that attack humanity.

And who's to say the guardian spirits didn't put Goro and Kogane into each other's paths?
That would be a major plot twist, being all set up and making Kogane's previous engagement also maybe a failed test of character and why she had approval to curse him after he broke his promise to her.

It's difficult to complain when Goro used his personal reward for the benefit of all the foxes in the future, not even just for Kogane specifically, though with Kogane living permanently among the humans, it's more likely she will end up in difficult situations than some random fox living in the hidden fox village. That being said, Kogane is going through such a harsh lesson that it's doubtful she will do anything reckless again any time soon.

It's nigh unthinkable Goro would have asked for anything else than something like this. Definitely not something for himself. Unless it was something purely comedic.

@sarusa: "but that even kitsune....." That's awkward, consider dropping "that" for better flow.
Hmmm, yeah, its kind of awkward, but I really want the 'even though' thing, and that is there in the raws. Could we just do 'Is it really fair that' (etc)?

Huh, I stand corrected. That's REALLY cool that it seems like some Kami have decided that Goro's the perfect mouthpiece for that situation.
