If all of a sudden you have to act within legal compliance, then you'd have delete the entire website outside of links to official chapters. There is no "legal" part of MangaDex's scanlations as the very act of doing so would be piracy if all of a sudden you were cracking down so hard.

Speaking of which, looking at the "Recently Added" in the past three days you've had doujins of anime set in high school with characters having sex, incest, and even erotica mixed with gore. So are all of these going to get hammered too? What about Tsugumomo? That on the list next? The numerous chapters of side-content for smaller series that shows sex scenes?

How about you make a list of things that are all of a sudden "bad" for your own viewerbase so we know what series to find elsewhere now? This is like that one scanlation group that literally self-censored female cleavage and whited out entire characters claiming it was "against the law" for them.

"Law and compliance", what a joke
this is a piracy site you self-righteous pricks, you can dress it up however you like and link to official translations all you want but the scanlations that provide most of the content on this website you get all your site hits and revenue from are all considered piracy under the law. You wanna gut 99% of your website and drive away 100% of your traffic so you can be "compliant"? Go ahead. See where that gets you.

Rule 1
Plus nobody asked them to register in the UK, the same UK that wants to put ID verification on vague law regarding "sexual" and "harmful" content, I don't understand the people at top?
Uk became the Demon Lord Territory of the world right now huh. The worls place in the world, ad with their laws is trying to make everything in the world orse, and ppl that collude with them are trying to reason even... holy fuck

There are several jurisdictions that consider ficional depictions of underage characters in sexual acts to be illegal.
Section 18:

"These Terms of Service and your use of the Site are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, applicable to agreements made and to be entirely performed within the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles."

Being LGBT can result in death in a few countries, are you going to remove Yuri/Yaoi series due nonsensical laws that have nothing to do with the United States of America?

I don't think it's that hard
it's time wasted to try and learn now since it's over.
I don't even understand why the staff wants to follow Loony Land law when the entire reason the website exists is committing piracy

Which of those jurisdictions are relevant to MD? It's not illegal in the US. And again, what about the removed series has anything to do with underage characters? It's been mentioned a few times, but the series in question is about adults, it's the tags that were incorrect.

Not to mention that this is a super weak excuse, given that if legality of content was actually an issue, MD wouldn't exist in the first place. And if MD really cared about underage characters, it'd be trivial to just purge the literally hundreds of series with thousands of chapters that are tagged with both loli or shota and pornographic. Add suggestive to that list and you could just purge like half of all manga in existence.

Then you block IPs from those jurisdictions from accessing the site. What happens when whatever legal entity that's threatening you decide that ecchi manga featuring highschoolers is suddenly illegal? Why are you bending the knee to these requests when what they're asking to be removed can be potentially applied to a huge amount of the catalogue available?

Then delete the 90% manga content off of your website, since manga if you didn't know is most times set in high school setting where characters are much younger than 18 and there's a lot of sexual activities depicted and such.

I look forward to your site shutting down permanently if this is how you intend on treating your userbase.
We're not fucking retarded. Stop treating us like the average UK citizen.

I'm used to moving on when it comes to manga. Mangadex is just one of many that have fallen by the wayside. We will move on from you and your moronic puritan power trip.
