Is this supposed to be a gotcha???
Yes, I didn’t have a reason to make an account until last year
Is this supposed to be a gotcha???
Don't forget about the perverts.Ah, yes, another gender bender manga. And i see we have our usual readers, yes, the transfems, the eggs and the transphobes who somehow love reading gender fuckery manga without thinking about gender mmmm yes.
Cute :3 nonetheless
WTF??? There's nothing yandere about Shion. Not knowing your manga trope terms while calling someone who has been registered on this site a full seven years before you (and with a full 1300+ more posts) a "tourist" is some wild gaslighting. I refuse to believe you're that oblivious, this is just bait. If you want one of my patented Mangadex forum text walls you'll need to actually have a bad opinion not just pretend to have one to get a reaction. It’s literally the oshi yandere obsession trope. It’s nothing new and has been done many times before in girls relationship context.
You can easily identify the tourists in this site.
Even the perverts come in more than one flavor I noticed. Mostly between the ones (often also queer) who are happy to own it and the others (often blackpilled) calling it "gooning" and talking about it with a lot of shame. The latter often baffle me because you'll see them in the comments of a horny manga three or more volumes in and still going "what is this filth??? oh well unzips ". Like, bro you've read 17+ chapters you ought to know what "this filth" is by now.Don't forget about the perverts.
Christ You’re obnoxious. Did I hit a nerve by calling you a tourist?WTF??? There's nothing yandere about Shion. Incidentally I'd describe Shion as "kuudere". If you wind up having to google that (I haven't heard it as often since the mid-2000's) maybe take off that hawaiian shirt and hide that camera before calling other people tourists. Oh and maybe don't assume women being very intensely into someone necessarily makes them yandere. Women are just as entitled to be intense as men. If a later chapter has Shion makes a copy of Ayame's keys or something, then we'll talk.
Yandere isn't the same as super obsessive. There needs to be an actual, serious danger element. We're talking like Stephen King's "Misery" level. Stalking, threatening, wanting to own the target of their obsession. I won't deny the possibility of an escalation to that degree, we can't predict the future but it'd be a pretty severe tonal shift.I called her a yandere because she’s shown some signs and is super obsessive, which is a yandere trait, similar to other manga with the matching premise and tropes. I might be proven wrong, though, but time will tell.
I’m not saying she’s 100% yandere right now, but I think she shows some of the symptoms, and it might gradually develop throughout the story. I’ve seen the oshi stan archetype numerous times. That said, I might be reading too much into it, and this could just be a different approach to writing Shion.Yandere isn't the same as super obsessive. Also dang, accusing me of having an nerve struck but then going on to labeling me obnoxious + making ageist aspersions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what an adult does with their time. One of the coolest things about being an adult is that you no longer have much need of shame.

I'm 100% proud of my presence on this forum, repping for the larger queer/neurodivergent community. I'm not gonna pretend it's making some kind of serious difference in the grand scheme of things, but I've gotten DMs and such from people who just feel a little bit safer here because I push back on transphobes and the like. That makes it worth it to me, but as a fellow adult (presumably) it's just as much your purview to draw your own conclusions.
That said, clearly there was a misunderstanding here. If the "tourist" thing was meant to be a general observation and you didn't quote reply me I promise I would've left you totally alone. But since you did light up my notifications, I don't think it was unreasonable to assume you were directing the slight specifically at me. But in a generalized, plausibly deniable (and thus less likely to be moderated) way. I tend to bite back pretty hard when I think someone is trying to start something with me. But if that wasn't your intent at all then I sincerely apologize. I actually do agree with your sentiment more generally, having encountered a number of hateful tourists on this forum who want to intimidate or drive out queer manga fans. Many of whom were reading stuff like Utena or Ranma long before a lot of them were even born. And you're right, you can usually tell the tourists right away.
The moment author solicited opinions about that, it's future was determined. It's when, not if.Take the bath.

Just want to say I actually totally agree with what you're saying, this bit in particular. I can absolutely see why that's annoying from the outside. Though true trans magical wish fulfillment stories (as opposed to just portraying trans people) are surprisingly uncommon in the broader manga space, even in the subgenre of gender bender. So trans people in the MD community sometimes latch on to sucking the moisture from under a camel's foot and go "salvation! an oasis!". And you're probably like "... no, that's a camel's foot". Just I feel more pathos than annoyance when I see that sorta thing. But man, when an actual oasis is found... phew no feeling quite like it.Most gender bending stories aren't trans, hell some are technically anti trans, if you want actual trans stories they are out there. Fire Punch is probably a favorite of mine though you don't find out that one of the characters is trans until later.
I do get it, it just annoys me since I have seen way to many people claim something is trans rep when it's not and if it was it would be terrible rep, (characters that were forcibly castrated for example is surprising common).Just want to say I actually totally agree with what you're saying, this bit in particular. For the record, I personally don't think Ayame's gender identity is particularly important to this story. He doesn't strike me as super invested in his identity either way. (loneliness can do that to you) It might be relevant to exploring Shion's sexual orientation, though, if the story goes in that direction.
