What is the best way to derail a thread?

I choose BlackGeneral as my first Foremon to defeat the enemy ones that have the Portuguese Type. If this isn't enough I always have panzerkampfwagyu with the missile launcher attack move. Really effective against the Yuri Type. I do get a gym badge if I win, right?
