I liked their solution--I always get nervous in these medieval-Victorian style manga/manhwa/webtoons when characters are like, "Why can't a single woman just raise a baby on her own with funds from her arts and crafts?"

Like, get divorced if you need to, but pretending like having a breastfeeding newborn isn't 3 full-time jobs, and that pocket change is enough for 2 humans to live on is a gross underestimation of the effort and cost it takes to survive. Sure, it can be done, but not in any way that would keep her looking as fresh and put-together as she does in Di's daydream. We don't even know if women can own property in this world, since there's an established system of oppression.

Also it might be time to teach Di a second new phrase--"bastard child." Another reason Liberty's being pressured to marry.

It's interesting that the Queen decided to use this situation as both Lessons and Tests to both Prince, and Cain.
With this, Cain proves himself worthy to become prince's assistance, and Prince Al worthy as prince, and last but not least, Liberty getting what she want, being together with her family.
Like, If both Cain and Al failed this challenge, it would become their lessons. But now both really prove themselves.

So much this.

I am glad that the issue is resolved and Liberty can have stable family life now and in the future. I am sure she will come to love the man they have arranged for her seeing how he seems like a good guy.

But yeah, even if this story has reincarnated main character (we did saw her shortly in one of the previous chapters) Cain has change the story so much by this point that the only way for Diana forward is to become a saint of the people. Cain himself has built such relationship with the prince that he has bright future in the politics of this country.

It only remains to be seen how will Diana trick the system in the future to marry Cain and live happily ever after. :meguusmug:

That's a very good compromise, interestingly it's the opposite of what they do in current day Japan as a stop gap for same sex marriage.

A couple will have the older person adult adopt the the younger partner as their child, so they have legal rights and next of kin status and have the legal frame work to care and protect each other. Same idea here just it's a grandparent pretending to be a partner.

Very clever solution from Cain and the kids, I was tearing up imagining Liberty and her baby having to be separated. Plus it's just...nice that the elderly Prince will get to have time with his family for his remaining time.

While the way Liberty's family line was brought into the world was horrible, she herself and the relationship she can have between him and it extending to baby, can be a positive impact on the world. (Also reminds me of another series that did this, the dad is much more openly traumatised in that one though but he still loves his daughter a lot even if it's hard.)

The writing for this series has always been interesting and the quality is maintained. The politics here aren't trying to be grandiose but still end up satisfying and suitable to what's meant to be a young noble's level.

Surprised pikachu face Diana is gold. Thanks for the TL.

Thanks for the scanlation!

It's looking like Cain has that 'future Prime Minister' position locked down. But there's still the matter of Diana's fate...

Please tell me which other series you refer to.

I'm A Stepmother, But My Daughter Is Just Too Cute!

The male lead was assaulted as a young teen (he was also sickly like this story's grandpa) by an older noble woman his mother brought in for that express purpose BC she cared more about the family line dying out than that her son was knocking on deaths door :c

is the main character very very gradually getting him used to being near women, as he was (understandably) so traumatised that being around or near anyone afab made sheer terror go through his body.

Even with his daughter. When mc found out she basically with his permission each night gave him the opportunity to do exposure therapy by touching her hand. And she was so consistent about it, with respecting his autonomy and his trauma that gradually he was able to at least have two safe people he could interact with. It made me sob.

"You Can Marry Your Brother, Royalty Hate This One Trick: Marriage in Name Only"

And it's just Diana exploiting this "trick".
I get the feeling this series is leaning towards Cain 'growing out' of his fixation, I mean, it was presented as a flaw when he tried to murder someone with a chair for proposing to her. If you really want to see a Duke's Daughter going full Lannister with the Duke's Son, read the manhwa Lady Devil.
