As usual, the anime was quite a hit back then:

The last time I heard someone mention Eromanga Sensei, the Laws of Hammurabi were considered progressive.

It still appears in memes as it is literally the same author than Oreimo, not much but at least it still is there. Like the "ochinchin" short from the first episode.

Oh yeah I forgot about that again. There was even a cameo appearance of the old cast of Oreimo in Eromanga-sensei final episode.

If it's about that series, people remember more other characters like that kuroneko to the point the alternative story still has fans. There's also the part of being a harem series, that smoothes things if you add how the series ends. For me, the series makes a joke of wincest titles, no matter how blood-related was that trashy character. They stole the spotlight with Imouto Sae Ireba Ii those years, but this one wasn't that successful (blame Kantoku for that).

I still remember the rumors that the alternate Kuroneko route would supposedly get an adaptation as third season, but it came to nothing.

I don't know about Kantoku; I liked some of the titles he illustrated in the early 2010s. But if we're talking about this show specifically, I feel like the author ended up investing more in yuri bait than imouto.

Incidentally, I was surprised that the author actually stuck to his old joke about wanting to try writing about little sisters in every possible variation. I found his fresh, albeit not as big and hyped, title to be the story of how the MC turned into a cute girl and formed a love triangle with his twin sisters. I'm even curious how it ended, because it seems like this is unlikely to get an anime nowadays.
