You know I typically have reservations about these sorts of developments for a few reasons already raised. (It feels like a cop out for indecisiveness or doesn't permit proper heartbreak or rejection etc.)
My main concern here is If Rin and Kurohime agree to this, then the temptation is to slot everyone into a Toudou harem, and that is not the ending that is justified by either Rings commitment, or (I would say especially) Kurohime's feelings.
Our girl has had at least 50 chapters of development to get here, she deserves some exclusivity, and I would hope that make it a true, healthy poly relationship the next few chapters after they agree to this are focused on Rin and Kurohime exploring each other and their feelings for each other independent of Toudou. I liked their interactions in the dodgeball arc, and it'd be nice to see that development taken further.
I do have confidence that the authors will pull this off though. Having turned a dubious concept into one of the best thought out and portrayed examples of love in all its messy glory in modern manga.
(Also for those calling for Yanagi to be added, what the hell man she has the vice prez right there!)

Whilst your concerns are valid (and the Ruruka flashback is funny) I think Toudou is a little more selective than some fans give her credit for. If Rin and Kurohime didn’t already have those past interactions of mutual respect to build on this could have been a throwaway idea. But they do. Adding people like Yanagi, or the Prez, or Ruruka WOULD be just adding people for the sake of a harem route. As it stands, IF Rin and Kurohime approve, I see this as a natural progression of these characters growth.

Because, knowing the authors, this wouldn’t just be an instant puddle of naked girls all the time. There’d be awkwardness and missteps and jealousy like the beginning of any new relationship. Exploring being in a polycule in reality, rather than what harem fans (or many polyamorists) imagine. And heck, maybe some other people COULD be added down the line, but only thoughtfully and with both care and development. And they might not agree, or agree and it not work out! Whatever happens the last thing I see happening is that it works out flawlessly without comment.

And so THANK YOU RURUKA, but I don’t see you joining the love puddle at any point until you grow up a little bit.

I think it was a mix of competitiveness and jealousy, as well as legitimately liking Kurohime, which sorta melded together to come up with the idea. I think someone mentioned something like her not wanting to be chosen just because she happened to be first, which sounded right to me. She sees that Toudou has a lot of love for Kurohime, and perhaps didn't want 'what-if' to be on her mind. It's a simultaneously mature and immature way of looking at things, she doesn't begrudge Toudou for her feelings, but the suggestion is pretty dumb to make when you've been dating for a good amount of time.

this poly route is exactly what i feared… i loved the chapters with rin and never really cared for kurohime as a character as much. feels like what toudou has built with rin is diluted. say it ain’t so… tell me there’s a chance this poly route does not happen 😭 just fell to my knees at a walmart and my day is ruined

Hoping the group dating idea ends up being more of a temporary gag than anything serious as i think a poly relationship would really undermine Kurohimes character development as well just not really seeming in-character for someone like her who has a more romanticized view of love and relationships

Exactly this, the gag of Toudou messing around with everyone was fun at first but I think a real development for her is finding someone she wants to be with. I don’t like this idea of adding someone else to that mix - if you really love someone you wouldn’t be looking at anyone else… it’s not even a matter of just because “someone came first” but because what her and Rin built together was genuine solely between the two of them. I pray the author makes this right 🙏

Loved those conversations. Toudou being honest with Rin, Rin accepting it and not wanting someone else to be unhappy without the chance to fight is totally in character and then so is Kurohime's response. Then Toudou's harem suggestion is also completely correct for the girl who's not into yuri. Here's hoping the two rivals hit it off and realise this can work.
I love this series, it can do great comedy but also great characters. Thanks for translating.

I feel like Rin wouldn't have much right to try and break things off, considering her suggestion was also insane. I feel like this should come down to what Kurohime thinks. She tried to, as gracefully as she could, accept her loss, and Toudou in turn tried to let her down as gently as she could. To me, Toudou being punished for this (at least immediately) would be a bit too harsh, as it was Rin who started pushing for some kind of change in the status quo. Still, I don't imagine Kurohime will be overly comfortable with this suggestion at first (and I suppose neither will Rin). But Toudou is surely gonna follow up with 'something' that will convince them to give it a shot. I understand why people don't want this to become a throuple, let alone a harem, but I feel like at this point, Kurohime will have just gone through a lot of extra grief for no good reason if things remain as they were.

And to be fair, Toudou is the main character, so her development is, in theory, the most important thing, and even if the status quo didn't change, she would still 'gain' from this, developmentwise. But this manga also doesn't come off as so meanspirited as to sacrifice Kurohime for that, not in that way. I'm afraid I'll start repeating myself, so I'll just leave it there.

That ending aside, everything that had led up to there was ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!

The strong characterization of both sides, their conflicting perspectives and personalities, their bonds, and the cherry on top, TD the "problem solver" being absolutely herself. And this is just getting started.
