Nah, you finally realized you're in love with Asahi-chan. Now hurry up and confess already! I'm betting MC is going to confess in the next chapter... unless the author decides to throw in some random plot twist out of nowhere :haa: BTW, Kakeru turned out to be a pretty solid wingman here. He's basically doing everything he can to help MC get together with Asahi-chan

I think I see where the author was going with this, and I suspect that they were told to end it all in a set amount of chapters and had to take a bunch of plot notes and bullet points and shave them down to the bare minimum.
And sadly, truncating it all down to a fraction of the number of chapters the author possibly had in mind, makes it all feel rushed and artificial. Ryou needed a lot more time to actually work through the feelings he's discovering for Asahi, and more pages were needed to deal with what all went down between them during the trip with the Prez et al.

Cutting out all but the most essential beats means we lose all that buildup that would otherwise make the sequence of events feel much more natural. I can't say I approve of what Ryou has done to Asahi twice now (even if she "instigated" it in the shed by pushing him down first), but I think that more chapters showing a fallout between them, and then the two of them having to grapple with what occurred and how to rectify things, would smooth a lot of the "ick" out, at least a bit.

Which is a shame. I really liked this series at the start, because of the rather novel dynamic between Ryou and Asahi and the twist on their character types. But whatever the reason, I suspect the author's schedule was pulled out from under them, and we're getting this rushed ending instead of what I suspect was a longer series with more paced-out character development.

Hopefully the author can avoid whatever led to these events on their next go-around, because I do like what they were doing here overall and don't want to see them punished forever due to how this has shaken out (as I'm not convinced it was their plan all along).

Thanks for the TL and for your continued effort on this series.

Last Chapter: Ryou SAs Asahi
This chapter: Must have been the wind

I get that the author was under a time crunch and needed a quick way to push Ryou and Asahi into a relationship, but there was definitely a more tasteful way to handle it.

The whole Kakeru subplot—especially using him to force some jealousy—just felt a bit unnecessary when the story already had better options. You could’ve cut all that out and just had Ryou and Asahi go on a cultural festival date instead. That kind of setting would naturally build their relationship and give more room to explore Ryou’s feelings.

Especially after Asahi said she’d make sure he’d never be alone, just them spend time together in a chill environment would’ve hit way harder for Ryou helping him realise his feelings for Asahi. It would reinforce that promise through actions rather than forcing tension through a third party.

Thanks for the translation!

The twitter link on the mangadex author page leads to an account set to private so I was worried there was some kind of backlash that made them have to lock their account but it seems like they changed the name and the link on the MD is just out of date https://x.com/akth425

Commenters were drawing comparisons to Gal Cleaning, but I'd say this was kind of worse. That other author at least had enough restraint and respect for the main characters to not involve them in the unhinged meltdown, but went with some random extras instead.
